2015WWCTriosSquad2Korea2_small.jpgThe second trios from Korea and Singapore moved into first and second place as all 46 teams have completed the first three-game block on short oil in the Women's World Championships Trios preliminaries. Baek Seungja, Kim Jinsun and Son Hyerin (l-R rebounded from a slow start (621) with games of 735 and 723 for 2079 total, an average of 231, to take the pole position as the event has reached the halfway point. All teams will return this afternoon and evening for the second block on long oil.

Sweden takes the early lead in Trios after the first block on short oil

Rebecka Larsen, Ida Andersson and Victoria Johansson average 226.89 in Squad 1 on short oil to lead Team USA by mere four pins

2015WWCTriosSquad1Sweden2_small.jpgRebecka Larsen, Ida Andersson and Victoria Johansson of Sweden averaged 226.89 on short pattern (36 ft. Los Angeles) to take the early lead in Trios at the 2015 Women's World Championships in Abu Dhabi. The Swedes led the 24 trios in the first of two squads with 2042 total. The Swedes were able to weather a late charge by Team USA to lead the Americans by just four pins. Denmark was in third place with 1995 and the Philippines rounded out the top 4 with 1991.

Korea's Jeon Eunhee earns the No. 1 seed for Wednesday's Singles finals

Her compatriot Hwang Yeonju remains in second place, while Singapore's Cherie Tan, Shayna Ng lead Squad 2 to move into third and fourth place; action shifts to Trios preliminaries on Tuesday

Eunhee averaged 242.83 en route to lead the 145-player field from 29 countries with 1457. Her compatriot Hwang Yeonju was second with 1408 while Singapore's Cherie Tan and Shayna Ng led Squad 2 with 1395 and 1366 to take places 3 and 4, making it an all-Asian medal round starting Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. GST.

2015WWCSquad1Top4_small.jpg The Korean women dominated the first squad in Singles as the competition in the Women's World Championships got underway Monday morning at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Jeon Eunhee, Hwang Yeonju and Jung Dawun finished squad 1 in first, second and fourth place, respectively. Patricia Luoto of Germany was the only non-Korean bowler in the top 4 in third place. The top 4 will advance to the meadl round on Wednesday morning.

The 147 players from 30 countries were split into two squads to bowl six games preliminaries on the 43 feet long Tokyo pattern before the cut to the top 4, who will determine the champion on Wednesday morning. Squad 1 starts at 9.00 o'clock Gulf Standard Time (GST) with Squad 2 to follow at 13.30. Live Streaming in progress.

2015 Women's World Championships gets underway with colorful Opening Ceremonies

Competition begins Monday, Dec. 7, with the Singles event at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE

2015WWCCeremonialFirstBallNouraAlKaabi2_small.jpgOn a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon (27°C or 81°F) almost 150 women athletes from 29 countries (the women from Panama are still on their way) marched onto the lanes at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to kick off the Opening Ceremonies of the 2015 Women's World Championships. After Hind Al Hammadi of the UAE national squad took the players' oath, the Championships were officially opened by a ceremonial ball rolled by Ms. Noora Al Kaabi (pictured).

Women's World Championships set to begin in Abu Dhabi

2015WWCLogo_small.jpg Zayed Sports City's Khalifa International Bowling Center again will open its doors to the best bowlers in the world for the 2015 Women's World Championships. The top women from 30 countries, 147 competitors in all, will make their way to Abu Dhabi for the first time since 1999, while the city and bowling center provided a memorable experience for competitors and fans at last year's Men's World Championships. The 2015 Women's World Championships will run from Dec. 7-13, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Dec. 6.

Stats, records and more stuff on the 51st QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong, and Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia emerged as World Cup champions. The 52nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held October 14-23, 2016, at Hao's Bowling in Shanghai, China.

WTBA releases Bulletin No. 2 for the 2015 Women's World Championships

29 countries to participate in the Championships December 5-14 at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; WTBA still would accept some more registrations

2015WWCLogo_small.jpg The World Tenpin Bowling Association and the host Emirates Bowling Federation  have released Bulletin No. 2 for the 2015 Women's World Championships which will be held from Saturday, December 5 to Monday, December 13, at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. As of today, 139 players from 29 countries have registered for event. 21 countries will send enough players to participate in the Team event. The WTBA still would accept some more registrations in case a federation has missed to register.

By winning the 51st QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, Guerrero became just the sixth female bowler in history to win the coveted trophy twice and only the third woman to win back-to-back World Cups.

It marks the first time in the history of the prestigious tournament that a Hong Kong bowler brings home the coveted trophy. Louw earned the silver medal and Jaris Goh of Singapore received the bronze medal.

The Round of 24 culminated in an exciting finish which determined not only the top 4 position but also decided the battle for 8th and last place to advance to the next round. England's Keira Reay highlighted the round by rolling the first 300 game of the event.

Louw posted 1895 in the third and last qualifying block on Tuesday, an average of 236.88, out averaging his nearest competitor in the round by almost 20 pins. He finished atop the 86-player leaderboard with 5351 total (222.96) to lead the top 24 players into Wednesday's intermediate round.

Francois Louw (r.) of South Africa used one of three 289 games in the first of three qualifying rounds to take second place with 1846 (230.75).
