2014MWCLogo2_small.jpg The 2014 World Tenpin Bowling Association Men's World Championships will be held from December 4 to 15 at 40-lane Khalifa International Bowling Center in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, UAE. After Indonesia's and Nigeria's withdrawal, 49 countries will participate and have nominated 273 players for the event which counts as a "major" on the 2015 World Bowling Tour. Marshall Kent wins Masters event in 8th Kingdom International Open

Kent earns his first PBA title with 257-206 victory over Swede Martin Larsen; Craig Nidiffer wins his second 5,000 Dollar in check in Day 1 Shootout

2014EBT19MarshallKent2_small.jpg2014EBT19MartinLarsen2_small.jpgHeading into its first adult World Championship, PBA rookie Marshall Kent (l.), United States, defeated three-time World Champion Martin Larsen (r.) of Sweden, 257-206, to win the Masters event in the 8th Kingdom International Open Tuesday at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Kent, who owns two European Bowling Tour titles, earned $10,000 for the victory. Larsen received $7,000 for second place.

Dom Barrett goes back-to-back in Qatar; defeats Stu Williams for his fourth career PBA title

2014EBT19Top4_small.jpgIn the title match of the 14th Qatar Open between England's PBA champions, Dominic Barrett defeated Stuart Williams, 395-388 over two games total pins, to defend his title and to win his fourth career title and 40,000 U.S. Dollar. It was also Barrett's 10th European Bowling Tour title. In the semi-finals, Barrett came back from a 26-pin deficit to defeat Martin Larsen of Sweden, 510-469. Williams, the No. 1 seed, ousted Cameron Weier, United States, in the other match, 434-421.

A very sad farewell to AMF legend, Bent Petersen 1932 – 2014

20141121BentPetersen_small.jpg QubicaAMF is saddened to hear of the passing of former Executive Vice President, Bent Petersen, who died peacefully at home on 21 November 2014. Bent, a much loved and respected member of the AMF family, retired from the company in 1998 after 36 years of loyal service. He looked after the Bowling World Cup until 1998 when he retired to Spain. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Julia, children Karin, Jens and Anne Marie, grandchildren and great grandchildren at this sad time.

Song Si Ra wins Open Division title in It's Daejeon International Open Bowling Tournament

Second-seeded Korean woman defeats tournament leader Choi Tae Seung in the title match to earn 40.000.000 Korean Won (approx. USD 35,925); Singapore's Cherie Tan emerges as Women's Division champion

2014ItsDaejeonOpenTop3_small.jpgIn an all-Korean title match between the top-seeded players, Song Si Ra (c.) defeated tournament leader Choi Tae Seung (l.), 231-205, to win the Open Division title in the It's Daejeon Open and the 40 million Korean Won top prize or approximately USD 35,925. The TV finals started with the Women's Division finale in which Cherie Tan of Singapore defeated Sung Gyeong Eun of Korea, 246-202, to claim the title and the 8 million Korean Won first prize check (approx. USD 7,185).

WTBA publishes Bulletin No. 3 for the 2014 Men's World Championships in Abu Dhabi (UAE)

50 countries have registered for the Championships Dec. 4-15 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; 274 players to bowl for medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Teams, All-Events and Masters

2014MWCLogo2_small.jpg Bulletin No. 3 for the 2014 Men's World Championships has been published today by the World Tenpin Bowling Association including a revised preliminary schedule and various information such as mandatory interviews for squad leaders and finalists and an the scheduling of an extra meeting. The Championships, hosted by WTBA, the Emirates Bowling Federation and Zayed Sports City, will be held December 4-15 at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

2014BWCVideo6.jpg Chris Barnes of the United States defeated two opponents to claim the men's title in the 50th edition of the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Sunday, Nov. 9 at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. Entering the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format as the No. 3 qualifier, the six-time World Champion and 17-PBA titlist won his best-of-three-game semifinal match against Ukraine's Mykhaylo Kalika, 215-204, 300-219 and then swept top qualifier Tobias Börding of Germany, 269-248, 231-216 for the title. Barnes joined wife Lynda Barnes (2005) as the first husband-wife duo to win World Cup titles.

World Bowling finalizes invitation strategy for Abu Dhabi World Championships

In his "Friends of Bowling Report" World Bowling and WTBA president, Kevin Dornberger (r.), United States, informed that bowling's world governing body has invited the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation and three Olympic media outlets.

Chris Barnes sweeps two opponents to win men's title in 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

2014BWCChrisBarnes4_small.jpgAfter qualifying for the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup for the first time in his illustrious career, PBA star Chris Barnes swept his two opponents in the stepladder finals to win the men's title in the 50th anniversary edition of the prestigious event Sunday, Nov. 9 at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. The six-time World Champion and 17-PBA titlist defeated top-seeded Tobias Börding, Germany in the championship match, two-games-to-none.

Clara Juliana Guerrero wins the women's title at 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

2014BWCClaraGuerrero7_small.jpgFourteen years after starting her international career with a runner-up finish at the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Lisbon, Portugal, Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia lifted the trophy after winning the 50th edition of the prestigious event at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. The 32-year-old two-time World Champion defeated Sin Li Jane in the deciding third game, 265-211, to claim the coveted title. The Malaysian ousted Brittni Hamilton, United States, two-games-to-one.

2014BWCTobiasBording3_small.jpgTobias Börding (pictured) of Germany continued where he had left off with another outstanding performance in the men's Intermediate Round at the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Saturday afternoon. The qualifying leader, who started the day with a 170-pin cushion, posted a 1924 eight-game block (240.50 average) including games of 256, 256, 243, 244, 267, 248, 183 and 227 to widen his lead to 240 pins. He totaled 6758 pins (241.36 average) to lead the top eight players into round robin match play starting Sunday at 9.30 a.m.

The prestigious annual event drew 152 players from 85 countries, 82 men and 70 women. Mexico's Sandra Gongora and Daria Kovalova of Ukraine were tied for eighth and last place to advance in the women's Intermediate Round at 6075 total, an average of 216.96. According to the World Cup rules, they bowled a one-game roll-off to break the tie for eighth place.

The 22-year-old national team member led after each of the four qualifying rounds including five-game series of 1305, 1136, 1236 and 1157 to win the qualifying portion with 4834 total and an average of 241.70 for twenty games. Börding outaveraged his nearest competitor, Mykhaylo Kalika of Ukraine, by 8.5 pins.

The 24-year-old averaged 206.40 in the fourth five-game block of B Squad including games of 224, 216, 200, 180 and 212 to overtake Liza Del Rosario (r.) of the Philippines by 45 pins.
