Hong Kong TBC releases Bulletin No. 1 for the 22nd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships

    ABFLogo_small.jpg2011HKTBCLogo_small.jpgFour years after hosting the 2008 Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships, the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress (HKTBC) will host the 22nd edition of Asia's most prestigious championships from Sept. 2-11, 2012 at Hong Kong Bowling City, a 48-laner in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.

    The championships will be conducted in accordance with chapters 4 and 5 of the World Tenpin Bowling Association Statutes and Playing Rules.

    The 2012 Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships will feature maximum six male and six female players from each member of the Asian Bowling Federation. Currently ABF has thirty-eight (38) members: Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippine, Qatar, Saipan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

    Men and women will compete in separate divisions for gold, silver and bronze medals in six disciplines: Singles, Doubles, Trios, 5-player Team, All Events and Masters.

    The bowlers will compete on two different lane condition designed by Kegel. The two oiling patterns will be released at least one month before the competition.

    Singles (six games on short oil) and Doubles (six games on long oil) will be contested on one oil pattern, while Trios and Team will feature both oil patterns (3 games on each pattern). The players with the highest pinfall total after six games will be declared the champions.

    The top 16 players in All Events (combined pinfall in Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team event) will advance to the Masters finals which will be played on both lane conditions.

    The 22nd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships will be hosted at bowling center Hong Kong Bowling City at EMAX mall in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong. The 48-laner opened its doors in 2008 and has hosted international tournaments and championships since such as the 20th Asian Championships, the 2011 Women's World Championships as well as the annual Hong Kong International Open and the Hong Kong ABF Tour leg.
