The Youth Education Services (YES) and Chuck Gardner Bowl4Life Scholarship Foundation will team to support additional USA Bowling Coaching seminars throughout the United States. The YES initiative started in 2010 and USA Bowling was the first program financed by the YES Fund. The USA Bowling Coaching seminars, operated by the IBC Youth Development team, are designed to teach basic bowling coaching skills to youth coaches, volunteers or parents of children involved in the sport.

Led by seasoned bowling coach, Rick Benoit of Topeka, Kansas, a group of Saudi Arabia's most talented bowlers traveled more than 9,000 miles to participate in the 2016 USBC Open Championships. Benoit and part of the group were among the 93 attendees at the three-day World Bowling Coach Conference that kicked off May 6 and brought representatives from 15 countries to the International Training and Research Center, part of the International Bowling Campus, in Arlington, Texas.
Stephen Padilla, Director of Coaching Certification and Development for the United States Bowling Congress, recently had the opportunity to travel to Japan to conduct the first Level I and Bronze certification coaching classes for the Japanese Professional Bowling Association (JPBA). Following the classes, USBC Coaching signed an international agreement with the Japan Bowling Congress to host future coaching certification classes.

Paeng Nepomuceno, the only bowler in history to win the World Cup four times, has been tasked to put the Philippines back on the right lane. The Philippine Bowling Congress has announced the appointment of the great bowler as head coach of the national team. Nepomuceno's contract, according to PBC executive vice president Steve Robles, has been forwarded to the Philippine Sports Commission for approval. There shouldn't be any problem with the PSC giving its stamp of approval.
Joyce Latham of Columbus, Ohio, who became a bowling coach more than 20 years ago, has been selected to receive the 2016 United States Bowling Congress Youth Volunteer of the Year Award. The prestigious national award recognizes an adult volunteer who has displayed outstanding efforts to foster, organize and promote youth bowling at the local, state and/or national levels. Latham will receive an expenses-paid trip to the USBC Convention, scheduled for April 26-29 in Las Vegas, where she will be presented the award.
The World Bowling Coach Conference will return to the International Training and Research Center (ITRC) in May, bringing together coaches from around the world for an educational conference on the sport of bowling. In conjunction with World Bowling, the world governing body for the sport of bowling, the ITRC staff will host the three-day conference from May 6-8 in Arlington, Texas.
The Kegel Training Center has announced the addition of Heather D'Errico, founder of BowlFit, as an advisory staff member. D'Errico will be making appearances at events at the Training Center to give seminars on mobility, injury prevention, functional strength training, and conditioning as it pertains to the sport of bowling. D'Errico obtained a Master's degree in Exercise Science while assistant coaching for the bowling team and interning with the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Central Missouri.
Allen Solomon of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, who has been the youth director at Beach Bowl for 27 years, has been selected to receive the 2016 David Dahms Coach of the Year Award. The David Dahms Coach of the Year Award recognizes a United States Bowling Congress-certified coach who has been actively involved in a USBC Youth program and has demonstrated outstanding commitment to coaching, sportsmanship and knowledge of USBC Youth rules.

Crowe Meritorious Service Award. Gordon Vadakin (pictured), who has made his mark in bowling as an athlete, instructor, coach, and even an entertainer of sorts, is being honored for his outstanding long-term accomplishments in and for the sport of bowling. The award will be presented during International Bowl Expo in Las Vegas.

United States Bowling Congress Gold-level coach, instructor and international ambassador Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno has concluded a Silver certification seminar from October 17-19 at Paeng's Midtown Bowl at Ermita, Manila, Philippines. It was the third coaching seminar conducted by Nepomuceno so far this year. The current group of Silver-level coaches (pictured) either earned Bronze-level coaching validation through Paeng a few years ago or in last year's seminar.

A passion for writing and coaching has come together in the June 10th release of Bowling Fundamentals - Second Edition (Human Kinetics, 2014) by former women's professional bowler Michelle Mullen along with a mini eBook on 'How to Pick Up Spares'. Mullen is a four-time pro champion, including one major title, a former Team USA coach and a USBC Gold Coach, with a background in biomechanics and sports psychology. Her passion is to coach, more than it is to bowl herself.
Bryan O'Keefe, a Team USA assistant coach since 2010, recently was awarded Gold-level coach status by the USBC Coaching Certification and Development department. O'Keefe, 39, is the Facility Manager of the International Training and Research Center in Arlington, where he teaches bowlers and supervises the ITRC pro shop in addition to working with Team USA and Junior Team USA players. USBC Gold is the highest level of certification a bowling coach can achieve, similar to obtaining a doctorate in a field of study.

The USBC Coaching Certification and Development programs provide coaches of all levels with the materials necessary to give them the best opportunities for coaching.
