Greg Young, (pictured) of Viera, Florida, has been named the August 2012 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association.

Young, 16, defeated Ashley Dunn, 15, Palmdale, Florida, 2-0, in a best-of-three match (216-155, 214-158) to win the Teen Masters Grand Championship and a $64,000 college scholarship package.

Dunn received $8,000 in scholarship money as overall runner-up. Young defeated Aaron Yuratovich, 16, of Olathe, Kansas, for the boys division crown while Dunn ousted Haley Rubin, 18, of Brandon, South Dakota, for the girls championship.

Four girls and four boys advanced to the Grand Championship after an 18-game qualifier and a 16-game round robin match play round in Cleveland in July on two different lane conditioning patterns. Shotmaking was also emphasized as the starting field of 170 players was limited to only two bowling balls each.

Young, a junior at Viera High School, qualified third in the boys division and Dunn lead qualifying in the girls division into the Grand Championship, held for the second straight year in Vanderbilt Hall inside New York City's Grand Central Station.

The second-place finishers in both girls and boys division were awarded $4,000 scholarships. The third-place finishers, Kamron Doyle, 14, of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Jessica Davies, 17, of Cape Coral, Florida, won $2,000 scholarships, and fourth-place finishers, Jacob Ettinger, 18, of Lafayette, Colorado, and Melanie Hannon, 16, of Cheektowaga, New York were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Others receiving votes were Team USA's Bill O'Neill and Shannon Pluhowsky, winners of three gold medals each at the 2012 Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Championships; Hugh Miller, winner of the PBA Senior South Shore Open, presented by DV8; and Kamron Doyle, winner of six gold medals in the Boys Junior B division (12-15 years) at the 50th Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas and third place, boys division, Teen Masters Grand Championships.
