    Announcement ends six-month national search

STEFrankDeSocio.jpgThe Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) announced today that Frank DeSocio (pictured) of Wichita, Kansas, has been named as its new executive director. The announcement comes after the recent BPAA board of directors meeting at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada. DeSocio will officially assume his new position July 1, 2014.

The announcement ends a six-month search to fill the vacancy during which time BPAA executive officers rotated executive director duties at the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas. DeSocio replaces previous executive director Steve Johnson who resigned in October.

"BPAA is very pleased to name Frank as executive director," said Tom Martino, BPAA president-elect.

"His bowling, sales and marketing background, as well as extensive industry contacts will be a great asset to the board of directors as it continues to advance BPAA's mission of increasing the profitability of its members as well as continue to enhance BPAA's relationships with our state and local associations and our industry partners."

Frank DeSocio, a bowling proprietor from Wichita, Kansas, is currently president of Strike Ten Entertainment (STE), the marketing arm of bowling. STE is a network of 2,100+ of the most progressive bowling proprietors throughout the United States, whose mission is to ensure that potential partners fit the needs and expectations of bowling proprietors on a national and local basis by promoting bowling in a positive manner.

DeSocio was selected after the BPAA executive search committee conducted an extensive nationwide search that included a multi-layered selection process. The executive search committee is comprised of the following bowling industry leaders:
    • David Spiegel, Executive Search Committee Chair
    • Anthony Perrone, BPAA Member/Bowling Proprietor
    • Alan Nordman, BPAA Secretary
    • Nancy Schenk, BPAA Treasurer
    • Jeff Boje, BPAA Past President
    • Michael Ducat, BPAA Past President
    • Randy Shank, BPAA Member/Bowling Proprietor
"I can't thank the members of the search committee enough for all their time, service and hard work throughout the past six months," said Martino. "We have tremendous confidence in Frank and believe with great confidence that he will successfully lead BPAA's talented, experienced and committed staff in developing and implementing member benefit programs and serving our member bowling centers at the highest level."

Added Martino, "I also must thank the BPAA staff for taking care of our members with the utmost degree of professionalism during this transition. They are to be commended for their great work and dedication."
