Michael Mak, Huang Chiung-Yao take 16th Chinese Taipei International Open titles

    Mak (left with Wu Siu Hong, right), who earned the No. 1 seed for the men's stepladder finals by 12 pins over his compatriot Wu Siu Hong, held off Wu Hao-Ming (right), Chinese Taipei, in the title match, 257-244, to wrap up the title and to earn the NT$250,000 top prize (approx. US$7,700).

    2016TPEOpenHuangChiungYao.jpg 2016TPEOpenChangYuHsuan.jpg Huang (right), seeded second in an all-Chinese Taipei women's stepladder finals, had to defeat top-seeded Chang Yu-Hsuan (left) twice to win the title. Huang forced a deciding second game with a narrow, 201-200 win, and cruised to the titles and the NT$80,000 winner's check (approx. US$2,500) with a big 223-156 win in game two.

    To reach the men's title match, Wu Hao-Ming eliminated Wu Siu Hong and defending champion Cheng Hsing-Chao, 233-222-181 in the semi-final match. Cheng, seeded fourth, sidelined fifth-seeded Chen Wu-Chi and sixth-seeded Lin Pai-Feng in an all-Taiwanese opening shoot-out match, 252-221-183.

    Wu earned NT$120,000 for second place, Siu Hong took home NT$60,000 for third place while Cheng, Chen and Lin earned NT$40,000, NT$35,000 and NT$25,000, respectively, for fourth, fifth and sixth place.

    In the women's stepladder finals, sixth-seeded Pan Yu-Fen ousted No. 4 Tsai Hsin-Yi and defending women's champion, Chou Chia-Chen in the opening match, 194-141-179. Huang then stepped up and flew past Pan and third-seeded Li Shiau-Ping, 245-184-136.

    Chang received NT$40,000 for second place, Pan got NT$20,000 for third place, Li took home NT$18,000 for fourth place, Chou earned NT$15,000 for fifth place and Tsai garnered NT$12,000 for sixth place.

    Fourteen Taiwanese men and Hong Kong's Michael Mak and Wu Siu Hong qualified for the ABF Tour Chinese Taipei leg on Sunday, July 10. The women's field features thirteen Taiwanese women plus two Macau women and one from Hong Kong.
