    European Rankings after 2/21 Events

2007EBT02PaulMoor_small.jpg Paul Moor from England overtook the lead in the men's European rankings after his victory in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament in the Netherlands. The 3-time defending ranking champion has 130 points and targets to win his fourth consecutive season. In the eighth year of the European Bowling Tour, there have been only two male champions, Moor and Belgian Gery Verbruggen, who won the title in the first four years (2000-2003).

Kimmo Lehtonen from Finland, who won the season opening Ballmaster Open, organized by himself, is second with 100 points. Lehtonen as well as third-placed Martin Larsen, Sweden, did not compete in Tilburg. Osku Palermaa, the Finnish two-hander, is tied with Larsen at 80 points.

Mere ten players - five men and five women - cashed ranking points in the first two of 21 EBT events this season. Besides Moor and Palermaa, Latvian Nikolay Ovchinnikov, Leonidas Maragos from Greece and Moor's compatriot Stuart Williams.

On the women's side 3-time defending ranking champion Britt Brøndsted, Denmark, 2006 runner-up Zara Glover and Kirsten Penny, both from England, as well as Veronica Solozhenkina, Kazakhstan, and Diana Zavjalova, Latvia.

Piritta Kantola from Finland, who led the women's rankings in the Ballmaster Open and German veteran Martina Beckel, who finished atop the women's rankings in the Bronzen Schietspoel, are currently tied for first place in the 2007 EBT women's rankings with 100 points each. Penny is fifth (78) and Brøndsted eighth (66).

The top eight men and the top eight women at the end of the ranking season will qualify for the 2008 World Ranking Masters at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Fla. As the ETBF has announced earlier this month, the top 16 men and the top 16 women from the 2007 EBT rankings will qualify for the inaugural EBT Masters 2008 (read more).
