Larsen, Bröndsted move to the top in European Rankings after Husqvarna

    European Rankings after 6/21 Events

    2007EBT04MartinLarsen.jpg 2007EBT05BrittBrondsted_small.jpg Martin Larsen (left) from Sweden and 3-time defending women's ranking champion Britt Brøndsted (right) from Denmark moved to the top of the leaderboard in EBT European rankings after the sixth tournament, the Husqvarna International in Jönköping, Sweden.

    2007EBT05PaulMoor_small.jpg 2006FINBotYOskuPalermaa_small.jpg Larsen received 46 points for his seventh-place finish in the men's ranking division to overtake men's 3-time defending ranking champion Paul Moor (left), England, by two points, 286 to 284. Osku Palermaa (right), is close behind with 270 points in third place, followed by Kimmo Lehtonen, both Finland, who got 60 points for a fourth-place finish for a 230 point total.

    2007EBT06RobertAndersson_small.jpg Robert Andersson (left), who won his second EBT title after the Ciutat de Barcelona in 2002, jumped to fifth place with 172 points thanks to the 100 ranking points he received for the victory in Husqvarna.

    2007EBT05JouniHelminen_small.jpg Next are Finns Jouni Helminen (right) and Pasi Uotila with 158 and 136, resp. Rounding out the top 8 is Yoan Alix, France, who has earned 135 points in this ranking season thus far.

    2007AOKirstenPenny_small.jpg Brøndsted, who won the rankings in the Brunswick Euro Challenge, landed in sixth place in the women's ranking category in Husqvarna, worth 48 points, en route to move past Kirsten Penny (left), England, who did not compete in Sweden, by 26 points, 264 to 238.

    2007EBT05ZaraGlover_small.jpg Penny's compatriot Zara Glover (right), who won the rankings in Husqvarna and 100 points, leapfrogged into third position with 222 points.

    2007EBT05PirittaKantola_small.jpg The next five players also did not compete last weekend and slipped one spot to Players fourth through eighth place: Piritta Kantola (left), Finland (208); Martina Beckel, Germany (178); Nicole Sanders, Netherlands (166); Krista Pöllänen, Finland (160); and Ghislaine van der Tol, Netherlands (137).

    The top eight men and the top eight women at the end of the ranking season will qualify for the 2008 World Ranking Masters at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Fla. In addition, the top 16 men and the top 16 women will qualify for the inaugural EBT Masters 2008 (read more).
