USBC Coach, Ambassador Nepomuceno trains 23 new coaches in Singapore

Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno, a United States Bowling Congress coach, international ambassador and four-time World Cup champion, completed his eighth USBC Coaching conference by certifying more than 20 coaches in Singapore Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 2007.

Nepomuceno and a group of international coaches trained and certified 23 USBC Coaching Level I and Bronze coaches from Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia during the seminar at the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates' Guild bowling center.

Coaches certified at the conference were: Aloysius Pek Chai Chuan, Peter Chin S.S, Tan Ah Poh Susan, Daniel Chang Weng Keong, Ray Lim Jia, Yeo Soo Yong, Yew Cheow Peng, Loh Chong Seng Ricky, Yio Chen Shean Simon, Roger Sim Hock Chong, Lim Hai Loon Vincent, Helmi Chew, David Ng Soo Vee, Ak Mohd Aizat PG Abu Samah, Richard Koh Ngiap Hong, Lee Chee Kow Jimmy Ng Soh Yong Susan, Wong Yee Min, Michael, Singgih Goenawan, Yeo Chung Sua Jimmy, Tay William, David Wong Han Keong and Sandra Sageran.

"I think that the seminar went well," said Nepomuceno, a USBC Level I coach and Bronze Instructor. "I am enjoying my role as teacher and enjoy even more the fact that I am doing my bit to promote the sport of bowling, which hopefully will soon take its rightful place in the Olympics."

The left-handed Philippine bowling legend - who has won 118 bowling titles worldwide - teamed up with USBC in early 2007 to promote the sport of bowling worldwide.

As a USBC Coaching Instructor, Nepomuceno teaches Level I and Bronze classes primarily in Asia. The coaches he trains and certifies through the USBC program will develop bowlers in the region, with the hope that some will become top level competitors.

Nepomuceno's certification is part of the USBC effort to create an international coach training program and bolster the strength of federations within bowling's world governing body, the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs. As part of that international strategy, USBC is developing more online coach training with the overall goal to expand USBC's reach globally through information and education. USBC's Level One certification course is now available online on

The USBC Coaching program, which professionally trains and certifies coaches to teach the sport of bowling, currently has tremendous respect as it is the only bowling coaching program for bowling recognized by the United States Olympic Committee.
