WTBA World Championships set to kick off in Las Vegas area

Sunset Station's Strike Zone in Henderson, Nev., United States (Aug. 16-31, 2013)

2013WCLogo_small.jpg For the first time in a decade, men and women will compete concurrently for world titles when the WTBA World Championships get underway next week. A total of 46 countries will compete with 222 men and 212 women making up the field of bowlers seeking world titles at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center. The opening ceremonies will take place Friday night with competition set to get underway Monday. The entire competition will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV.

WTBA to conduct Strike Gold Celebrity Challenge in connection with World Championships

Pro-am style event is open to the public and will benefit Special Olympics

2011WTBALogo_small.jpgBowling fans will have an opportunity to bowl with the best bowlers in the world when the Strike Gold Celebrity Challenge takes place Aug. 17 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev. The event will precede the WTBA World Championships and will benefit Special Olympics. The pro-am style event is open to the public and will have squads at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The event will also feature dozens of Special Olympics athletes.

Team USA's men's and women's rosters set for 2013 WTBA World Championships

USBCRodRossITCHeadCoach_small.jpg The Team USA men's and women's rosters for the 2013 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Championships are set as both teams look to defend their titles. The first combined World Championships since 2003 will be held Aug. 16-30 at Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev. "We had some very difficult decisions during the selection process but we will have two very strong, experienced teams to defend our titles at the World Championships," Team USA head coach Rod Ross (pictured) said.

World Tenpin Bowling Association releases Bulletin No. 2 for 2013 World Championships

24 of 46 participating federations have not yet made room reservations at the host hotel; federations who do not stay at Sunset Station may face consequences such as double entry fee and no arranged transportation to any scheduled activity, hotel or airport

2013WCLogo_small.jpg The World Tenpin Bowling Association has released Bulletin No. 2 for the 2013 World Championships, which will be held from August 16-31 Strike Zone bowling center in Henderson, Nev., a 72-laner inside Sunset Station Hotel & Casino in suburban Las Vegas, United States. In a letter attached to this Bulletin WTBA President Kevin Dornberger noted with some concern that only 21 out of 46 participating federations have booked their confirmation with the host hotel.

Netherlands Bowling Federation announces teams for 2013 World Championships

Jeroen van Geel (l.) led the men's selection process ahead of Johnny Spil and Roel Mol. Ghislaine van der Tol (r.) led the women's field and was followed by Lisanne Breeschoten and Wendy Kok.

Dutch national squad starts selection process for 2013 World Championships

2013NBFLogo_small.jpg The Netherlands Bowling Federation (NBF) has announced the selection process for athletes to qualify for the Dutch men's and women's national team for the 2013 World Championships in the United States. 24 players, 13 men and 11 women, started the "Road to the World Championships 2013" program to select six men and six women who will represent the Netherlands in the first combined World Championships since 2003, August 18-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center in Henderson, Nev.

Israel Bowling Federation announces teams for 2013 World Championships in August

2013WCTeamIsrael_small.jpg The Israel Bowling Federation has announced the men's and women's team roster for the 2013 combined World Championships in suburban Las Vegas in August. As in the past years in Israel, three of the six players in each gender were seeded based on their performance in the Men's and Women's European Championships. The other three spots were at stake in a qualifying tournament, which was held in Haifa and Rishon Letzion last weekend.

The World Tenpin Bowling Association has announced in its December newsletter that all invited federations have confirmed their participation in the event which will be held from August 16-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center, a 72-laner in Henderson, Nev., in suburban Las Vegas, United States.

For the first time since 2003 in Malaysia, the men will bowl alongside the women in a World Championship. Europe will send 15 teams each, while 12 team qualified from Asia. Jung Da-Wun, Yousif Falah hold slim lead in Masters after first block of Match Play

2012AsCYousifFalah_small.jpgJung Da-Wun (l.) of Korea and Bahrain's Yousif Falah (r.) took a three- and six-pin lead, respectively, in the first round of the Women's and Men's Masters Match Play Monday morning at the Hong Kong Asian Championships. Jung averaged 224.38 and won the last six of her eight matches to set the tone in the women's division with 1855 total including 60 pins bonus. Falah averaged 219.50 to lead the men's field with 1806 including a 5-3 match play record.

England leads top 15 European men teams to the Combined World Championships 2013

Eight European countries will be represented by both teams, men and women, in Las Vegas

The 5th Men's European Championships in Vienna, Austria, served as the qualifying event for the 2013 WTBA World Championships. The combined championships for men and women will be held from Aug. 18-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center in Las Vegas. The 15 women teams have been decided in June at the 2012 Women's European Championships in Tilburg, Netherlands.  Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland and Sweden will be represented by both teams.

United States (host), Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Canada, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica qualify for the 2013 WTBA Combined World Championships

Pluhowsky, the reigning World Champion in Masters, defeated teammate Liz Johnson, 238-226, to win the women's title, while Lambert fired a perfect game in defeating Puerto Rico's Francisco Colon, 300-175, at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in suburban Las Vegas.

Sweden leads top 15 European women teams to World Championships 2013

2012WECLogo_small.jpgThe 4th Women's European Championships, which concluded yesterday with the arena finals at Efteling Theater in Tilburg, Netherlands, served as the qualifying event for the 2013 combined World Championships which will be held from Aug. 18-31 in suburban Las Vegas, United States. Sweden finished atop the point ranking with 1616 points. Germany was a distant second with 1218 followed by England (1109), Denmark (916) and Netherlands (891).
