Last World Tenpin Bowling Association Congress approves several rules changes

2014WorldBowlingLogo_small.jpgThe last congresses in the history of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ) and World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) were held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, December 15. Fifty-six member federations with twenty-two proxies attended both congresses during which the merger of the two organizations into one entity, World Bowling, was approved. Besides the historic merger and the elections, the WTBA Congress approved several rule changes effective immediately.

WTBA extends entry deadline for 2015 Women's World Championships until November 1st

28 of the 123 member federations of World Bowling have registered for the Dec. 5-14 event

2011WTBALogo_small.jpg The 2015 Women's World Championships will be held from Saturday, December 5 to Monday, December 13, at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Bulletin No. 1 was released in April 2015. As of today, only 28 of the 123 member federations of World Bowling have registered for event. Therefore the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) and the host Emirates Bowling Federation (EBF) have extended the entry deadline until November 1st.

2015 World Seniors Championships to kick off in Las Vegas

2015WSrCLogo_small.jpg The top senior players from 33 countries will make their way to Las Vegas to compete at the 2015 World Seniors Championships starting Monday. The 2015 event will feature more than 200 men and women age 50 and older vying to take home medals in Singles, Doubles, Team, All-Events and Masters competition at Sam's Town Bowling Center. All rounds will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. The World Seniors Championships debuted in 2013, also in Las Vegas.

Incorporated in the campaign for inclusion, World Bowling highlight the sport's unique mix of performance and participation, its ability to reach new audiences and the sport's provision of a very strong platform for national and regional promotion within Japan. After two days of interviewing, World Bowling President Kevin Dornberger feels optimistic about the process.

Tokyo 2020 OC Chairman says Bowling could be the No. 1 sport to be proposed for inclusion

20150724Tokyo2020OCChairmanMrMori_small.jpg As reported on June 22nd, Tenpin Bowling" and seven other sports have been placed on the shortlist of additional events for inclusion on the Sports Program at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. IBMA Hall of Famer Hero Noda has informed Bowlingdigital.com that the chairman of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, Mr. Mori, mentioned to Japanese Media that Bowling could be in first position to be proposed to the IOC for inclusion at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020). Mr. Mori added that Bowling is a popular and enjoyable sport for both people with and without disabilities.

Tokyo 2020 has shortlisted eight IOC-recognized International Federations (IFs) proposing events to be considered for inclusion at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020). World Bowling, Tenpin Bowling's world governing body, will now be admitted to the second phase of the application process.

All 26 federations are IOC recognized. Since the adoption of IOC's "Olympic Agenda 2020" reforms approved in December, Tokyo, as the host city of the 2020 Summer Olympics, can propose the addition of one or more sports to the program of their own accord. Each international federation had until June 8 to submit applications to be considered.

World Bowling hands in Tokyo 2020 application with support from one million Japanese fans

2014WorldBowlingLogo_small.jpg This morning World Bowling submitted its application to be considered by the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee (Tokyo 2020) as an additional event for inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Bowling is one of 33 sports invited by the organizing committee to submit an application. Alongside the document, the Japan Bowling Congress (JBC) has collected nearly 1,000,000 signatures to show the level of national support for the Bowling's inclusion in their capital city's Games.

Kegel and WTBA extend partnership

Since 1995, the WTBA World Championships have been using Kegel equipment, chemicals, and technical staff during their events. The 5th WWC, which is contested every four years, will be held from December 4-13, at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. World Bowling Congress and Tenpin Bowling Congress will immediately follow the Championships on Dec. 14-15.

World Bowling announces host cities for 2017-2020 World Championships

The decision to elect the following host cities was announced Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, where the Executive Board has met following the completion of the Men's World Championships. "We are pleased that we could accommodate for all the bidding cities and I believe this reflects on the global reach of our sport," World Bowling President, Kevin Dornberger, commented.

Earlier this year, World Bowling put out requests for bids for the 2017 World Senior Championships, the 2017 World Championships, the 2018 World Youth Championships and the 2018 World Men's Championships. The decision on which cities will host the events will be made by the World Bowling Executive Board on Dec. 15 and 16.

World Bowling makes its new debut at at 17th Incheon Asian Games
