The last congresses in the history of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ) and World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) were held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, December 15. Fifty-six member federations with twenty-two proxies attended both congresses during which the merger of the two organizations into one entity, World Bowling, was approved. Besides the historic merger and the elections, the WTBA Congress approved several rule changes effective immediately.

The 2015 Women's World Championships will be held from Saturday, December 5 to Monday, December 13, at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Bulletin No. 1 was released in April 2015. As of today, only 28 of the 123 member federations of World Bowling have registered for event. Therefore the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) and the host Emirates Bowling Federation (EBF) have extended the entry deadline until November 1st.

The top senior players from 33 countries will make their way to Las Vegas to compete at the 2015 World Seniors Championships starting Monday. The 2015 event will feature more than 200 men and women age 50 and older vying to take home medals in Singles, Doubles, Team, All-Events and Masters competition at Sam's Town Bowling Center. All rounds will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. The World Seniors Championships debuted in 2013, also in Las Vegas.

World Bowling completed their final round of IF interviews with the Tokyo 2020 Additional Events Panel OC. Incorporated in the campaign for inclusion, World Bowling highlight the sport's unique mix of performance and participation, its ability to reach new audiences and the sport's provision of a very strong platform for national and regional promotion within Japan.
After two days of interviewing, World Bowling President Kevin Dornberger feels optimistic about the process.
As reported on June 22nd, Tenpin Bowling" and seven other sports have been placed on the shortlist of additional events for inclusion on the Sports Program at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. IBMA Hall of Famer Hero Noda has informed Bowlingdigital.com that the chairman of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, Mr. Mori, mentioned to Japanese Media that Bowling could be in first position to be proposed to the IOC for inclusion at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020). The organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have released a list of 26 sports, including Tenpin Bowling, that have applied for inclusion in the games. All 26 federations are IOC recognized. Since the adoption of IOC's "Olympic Agenda 2020" reforms approved in December, Tokyo, as the host city of the 2020 Summer Olympics, can propose the addition of one or more sports to the program of their own accord. Each international federation had until June 8 to submit applications to be considered.
This morning World Bowling submitted its application to be considered by the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee (Tokyo 2020) as an additional event for inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kegel and the World Tenpin Bowling Association extend their partnership to provide lane maintenance for all WTBA World Championship tournaments through 2015. Since 1995, the WTBA World Championships have been using Kegel equipment, chemicals, and technical staff during their events. Chris Chartrand (r.), Kegel President, and Kevin Dornberger (l.), WTBA President, have decided to continue this partnership and extend their contract for one additional year.

The Executive Board of World Bowling Tenpin, the governing body of the sport of Tenpin Bowling, has decided the dates for 2015 Women's World Championships at the board meeting December 15-16 in Abu Dhabi following the 2014 Men's World Championships. The 5th WWC, which is contested every four years, will be held from December 4-13, at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. World Bowling Congress and Tenpin Bowling Congress will immediately follow the Championships on Dec. 14-15.

The decision to elect the following host cities was announced Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, where the Executive Board has met following the completion of the Men's World Championships. Major cities from across the globe have put in their bids to host future World Bowling championship events, World Bowling CEO and President Kevin Dornberger announced Friday. Earlier this year, World Bowling put out requests for bids for the 2017 World Senior Championships, the 2017 World Championships, the 2018 World Youth Championships and the 2018 World Men's Championships. The decision on which cities will host the events will be made by the World Bowling Executive Board on Dec. 15 and 16.
International task force develops fast-paced, easy-to-understand format for match play competition
Athletes and bowling fans around the world will be introduced to a proposed new scoring system for competitive bowling during the World Bowling Tour (WBT) Men's and Women's Finals in Las Vegas on November 2. The new scoring system is the result of the work done by an all-star panel of international bowling experts. The new system was developed in order to make the sport more attractive and easier to understand for casual bowling fans, the news media and the competitors.
As the 2014 Asian Games starts in Incheon, South Korea, World Bowling will be a major feature on the programme of this 17th edition. Bowling, one of the few non-Olympic sports in the Asian Games, will make an exclusive appearance on the programme, making it one of the biggest sports represented in this edition, as it hands out 12 gold medals. South Korea is a fantastic setup for these Games, especially given the reputation of Bowling in this country. Tremendously popular, bowling is anchored in Korean culture.
