In many ways, International Bowl Expo 2011 was similar to those held in the past. What made this year's event different was the location. Instead of the glamour of Las Vegas or glitz of Orlando, this had more of a feel of home. That's certainly the way the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, United States Bowling Congress and International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame wanted it because the Dallas-Fort Worth area is their home.

2010IBEJohnnyPetragliaTomMartino_small.jpgHappy Independence Day! I am back from the 2010 Bowl Expo and annual Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA) Board and general membership meetings. This year was exceptional as two of New Jersey's "favorite sons," Tom Martino (right, Majestic Lanes, Hopelawn) and Johnny Petraglia (left, multi-hall of famer, Jackson) received top honors.

A different view of International Bowl Expo and Key Players By Dick Evans

But as I entered the long walkway surrounded by shops and restaurants of all descriptions, I began to think I was lost and had taken a wrong turn, which is easy to do in this giant complex that extends for about a third of a mile before you reach the end of the convention area. It is so gigantic that use have to use the escalators to reach the registration area for Bowl Expo, which is surrounded by many meeting rooms or various sizes.
