That pressure, however, can be relieved by one simple thing - throwing the ball well. And that's exactly how Edwards feels he's performing heading into next week's USBC Senior Masters, which begins Monday at the South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas. If Edwards finishes outside of the top 63 in qualifying, he will earn the No. 64 spot in the bracket.

Amleto Monacelli leads after first Match Play Round in Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open

24-player field returns Friday for two more match play rounds to determine top four for stepladder finals

2013PBA50AmletoMonacelli_small.jpgVenezuelan Amleto Monacelli (l.) moved a step closer to successfully defending his PBA Senior U.S. Open title by leading after Thursday's fourth round of the 2013 edition of the PBA50 Tour season's first major at the Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas. The Hall of Famer compiled a 5-3 match play record and leads with a 7,203 pinfall total. The 24-player match play field returns Friday for two more eight-game rounds before the cut to the top four players who will advance to the stepladder finals scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PT.

Bowling as a rookie on the PBA50 Tour this season and competing in only his second tournament, Jurek compiled a 1,888 eight-game pinfall total in the first qualifying round. Jurek holds a 35-pin lead over amateur Bob Markiewicz (r.) of San Diego in second with 1,853.

Amleto Monacelli hopes to repeat as Senior U.S. Open champion

PBA Hall of Famer targets to break into win column for 2013

2013PBA50AmletoMonacelli_small.jpgAfter five tournaments in the 2013 PBA50 Tour season, defending Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open champion Amleto Monacelli (pictured) has done just about everything except win. He has two runner-up finishes, a fifth and has been high qualifier twice. Monacelli hopes to break into the win column when the season's first major returns to the Suncoast Bowling Center June 4-7. Last year, Monacelli won the Senior U.S. Open by defeating fellow Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. in the title match, 255-247.

After his rough start, the 50-year-old color analyst (pictured) for ESPN and CBS Sports Network PBA Tour telecasts rocketed through the field to win in his PBA50 Tour debut by defeating fellow Hall of Famer Amleto Monacelli, 232-226, in the championship match Thursday at Capri Lanes.

Lennie Boresch Jr. continues momentum as top qualifier in PBA50 Dayton Classic

Last week's Miller High Life Classic winner leads 32 players advancing to match play

201011PBALennieBoresch_small.jpgFresh off of a win in last week's PBA50 Miller High Life Classic, Lennie Boresch Jr. (pictured) of Kenosha, Wis., emerged as the qualifying leader Wednesday in the PBA50 Dayton Classic presented by Roto Grip at Capri Lanes in in Kettering, Ohio. Boresch finished qualifying with a 3,847 16-game pinfall total (240.4 average) bowling games of 205, 257, 236, 239, 234, 249, 227 and 299 in Wednesday's second round. The 32-players advancing to match play will begin competition Thursday at 9 a.m. ET.

Darryl Bower sets the pace in first qualifying round at PBA50 Dayton Classic

Bower, in his third season bowling on the PBA50 Tour, led with a 1,983 eight-game pinfall total with games of 278, 235, 205, 246, 257, 238, 256 and 268. Bower holds a 13-pin lead over Mike Edwards of Tulsa, who finished the day in second with a 1,970 pinfall.

One year later, Johnny Petraglia reflects on historic win in 2012 PBA50 Dayton Classic

2012PBASJohnnyPetraglia_small.jpgIt was just a year ago that PBA Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia (pictured) became the first player in PBA history to win a PBA Tour or PBA50 Tour title in six decades by winning the PBA Senior Dayton Classic at Capri Lanes. Petraglia, who won his eighth career PBA50 Tour title last May in the Dayton Classic, also ended a three-year drought without a win by defeating two-time PBA50 Player of the Year Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Alaska, 220-204, in the title match.

Boresch won his second career PBA50 Tour title by defeating Mike Henry of Brunswick, Ohio, 211-210, in the title match. It marked the second week in a row that the title match was decided by one pin.

Goebel leads a field of 40 players advancing to Wednesday's match play rounds which begin at 11 a.m ET.

Learn, who won the 2012 Miller High Life Classic for his first PBA50 Tour title, had a 1,984 eight-game pinfall with games of 200, 226, 300, 225, 243, 257, 266 and 267. The 140-player field returns Tuesday for another eight-game qualifying round before the field will be cut to the top 40 for match play.

Monacelli, a 19-time winner on the PBA Tour, led after the second round with a 3,775 pinfall total (235.9 average) and tops a field of 32 players who advanced to Wednesday's match play rounds.

Scarborough (l.), who turned 50 in October 2012, is bowling in only his second PBA50 Tour event. Three straight sub-200 games then toppled him out of the lead and into a tie for 12th place with 1,921 pins, 77 pins behind leader PBA Hall of Famer Mark Williams.

Monacelli, the 2012 PBA50 Senior Rookie of the Year, finished qualifying with a 3,819 16-game pinfall total (238.6 average) to outdistance PBA Hall of Famer and four-time PBA50 Player of the Year Tom Baker by 117 pins who was second with 3,702.
