Adam Zimmerman, Breanna Clemmer win Teen Masters High School Bowling Championships

2016TeenMastersAdanZimmerman_small.jpg 2016TeenMastersBreannaClemmer_small.jpg Adam Zimmerman (l.) of Deer Park, N.Y., and three-time Junior Team USA member Breanna Clemmer (r.) of Clover, S.C., won the boy's and girls' division titles in the Teen Masters High School Bowling Championships at Sawgrass Lanes in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Friday. Each was $6,000 scholarships. Kirk Mowl of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Mabel Cummins of Elburn, Ill., were the boys' and girls' U14 division winners as the highest finishing players in their age group.

Dawson Maier, Breanna Clemmer lead into final day of Teen Masters

2016TeenMastersLogoRed_small.jpg Dawson Maier of Hampton, Va., who had led since round two, and Breanna Clemmer of Clover, S.C., took the boy's and girls' division leads into Friday's final two rounds of the Teen Masters High School Bowling Championships at Sawgrass Lanes in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Maier, 17, won five of his first six matches Thursday to finish the day with a five-round, 30-game total of 6,746 pins. Clemmer, 18, posted a 4-1-1 record for her opening round of match play to finish the round with a 6,204 pinfall total.

Dawson Maier, Caitlyn Johnson lead as Teen Masters arrives at "Cut Day"

2016TeenMastersLogoRed_small.jpgAs the Teen Masters Bowling Championships arrived at "cut day" at Sawgrass Lanes in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wednesday, Dawson Maier of Hampton, Va., held onto the lead in the boys' division while Caitlyn Johnson of Beaumont, Texas, advanced into the lead in the girls' division. After 18 games, the top 45 boys ages 15-and-older and the top nine U14 boys will advance to a fourth six-game qualifying round Thursday along with the top 20 girls 15-and-older plus the top six U14 girls.

Dawson Maier, Adrianna Stacy advance from fifth to first in Teen Masters Qualifying

2016TeenMastersLogoRed_small.jpgDawson Maier of Hampton, Va., and Adrianna Stacy of Sebring, Fla., both advanced from fifth to first after the second round of qualifying in the Teen Masters Championships at Sawgrass Lanes in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Tuesday. Maier, 17, rolled games of 233, 234, 216, 197, 236 and 219 Tuesday to finish the second round with a 12-game total of 2,645 pins . Stacy, also 17, had games of 268, 204, 157, 205, 226 and 147 to finish her second round with 2,397 pins

Jackson Short, Samantha Johnson hold early Teen Masters leads

TeenMastersLogo118h.jpgFloridians Jackson Short of Brooksville and Samantha Johnson of Apopka rolled into the first round leads in the boys and girls divisions of the Teen Masters Championships at Sawgrass Lanes in in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Monday. Short rolled games of 234, 177, 224, 258, 212 and 246 for a 225.1 average, finishing his six-game opening round for a 1,351 pinfall total and a 16-pin lead over Cody Estes of Somersworth, N.H. Igar Rodriguez of Miami, Fla., was third in the field of 211 boys with 1,329 pins.

PBA Tour stars and celebrities compete in seventh Chris Paul Family Foundation benefit

In a "battle of the sexes" championship match, the team of PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber (l.) and former NFL All-Pro receiver Terrell Owens (r.) defeated international bowling star Clara Guerrero and Olympic and World Cup women's soccer gold medalist Hope Solo, 78-54.

Tournament host, LA Clippers guard and eight-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul (pictured) and Super Bowl winning Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson, headline the list of celebrities.

Long-time bowling friends unite to topple decorated team of PBA veterans

It also is the name a team of five relatively untested bowlers (L-R Danielle McEwan, Alex Cavagnaro, Anhony Pepe, Matt O'Grady and Matt McNiel) gave themselves before upsetting a highly-decorated team of PBA stars in the inaugural PBA Team Challenge at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas Sunday.

900 Global Phoenix tops PBA Team Challenge Qualifying

Top six teams advance to Sunday's match play round

2015PBAFallClassic_small.jpg900 Global Phoenix averaged 238 as a team to lead qualifying Saturday in the inaugural Professional Bowlers Association Team Challenge at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The PBA Team Challenge, a first of its kind five-player team competition for the sport's most talented players, got underway with all 17 teams bowling six complete team games which was followed by a round of 12 Baker format games where players alternated frames to complete a game.

O'Neill successfully defends King of the Swing title with 191-164 win over Tommy Jones in non-PBA title finale

2015PBASummerSwingBillONeill_small.jpgIn what could be considered the all-star event of the 2015 Oklahoma's Grand Casino Hotel & Resort PBA Summer Swing, Bill O'Neill (pictured) of Langhorne, Pa., beat Tommy Jones of Simpsonville, S.C., 191-164, to successfully defend his Oklahoma's Grand Casino Resort King of the Swing title at the Grand Event Center. The concluding event of the Summer Swing, provided a unique challenge, requiring the finalists to compete on a dramatically different lane condition on each lane.

ESPN's Super Bowl Sunday telecast of CP3 PBA Celebrity Invitational moves to 2 p.m. ET

2015CP3PBACelebrityInternationalLogo_small.jpg ESPN has moved up the time for airing of Chris Paul's CP3 PBA Celebrity Invitational presented by Bowlmor AMF from 4:30 p.m. ET to 2 p.m. ET on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 1). The telecast will also be increased from 90 minutes to two hours. The CP3 fundraiser, which will again include a diverse group of celebrities and PBA Tour stars and has become a tradition on Super Bowl Sunday, was staged January 8 at AMF Bowl-O-Drome in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, Calif.

Monacelli avenges PBA50 Tour loss to Williams in 2014 PBA Challenge Finals

Venezuelan native Amleto Monacelli (l.) defeated fellow PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. (r.) of Oxford, Fla., with a near-perfect game, 277-219, to win the PBA50 Tour Finals as part of a four-match PBA Challenge at the new South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nev. Monacelli avenged his 224-204 loss to Williams and just missed a perfect game, leaving the 3-6-10 in the eighth frame, for his only mistake.

Bill O'Neill cruises to Oklahoma's Grand Casino Resort PBA Summer Swing victory

PBA Badger Open champ brings PBA Summer Swing to near perfect ending

2014SummerSwingBillONeill_small.jpgTop qualifier Bill O'Neill of Langhorne, Pa., brought the Professional Bowlers Association Tour's Oklahoma's Grand Casino Resort PBA Summer Swing to a near-perfect close, cruising past Sean Rash of Montgomery, Ill., to win the King of the Swing finale, 245-181, at the Grand Event Center. O'Neill won the PBA Badger Open earlier in the swing. The King of the Swing was a special event. No PBA Tour title was awarded, but O'Neill took home $10,000 and a lot of restored confidence.

Jason Belmonte defeats Sean Rash in first PBA Super Clash

PBA Tour rivalry showcased in three-game head-to-head made-for-TV matchup on ESPN

2014PBASuperClashJasonBelmonte2_small.jpgThe PBA's fiercest rivalry between the two most recent PBA Players of the Year took center stage on ESPN in a Super Bowl Sunday head-to-head battle at Thunderbowl Lanes. In the end, Jason Belmonte (pictured) claimed an overall victory over Sean Rash in the inaugural PBA Super Clash. The event consisted of three games with the winner of each game earning $2,000 and the player accumulating the highest three-game pinfall total winning a $10,000 grand prize.

Hall of Famer wins four matches, avenges Milwaukee Open loss to Barnes with two strikes in final frame

2013GEICOKingoftheHillNormDuke2_small.jpgPBA Hall of Famer Norm Duke (l.) successfully concluded the GEICO PBA Summer Swing with a clutch 10th-frame performance for a bittersweet 222-213 victory over Chris Barnes in the GEICO King of the Swing, a non-PBA title special event. It was the kind of performance that has made Duke one of the PBA's most popular players. Duke defeated four Summer Swing event champions in impressive style after earning his way into the King of the Swing field as the "wild card," the highest point-getter without a title.

PBA stars and celebrities compete in fifth annual event benefiting Paul's CP3 Foundation


In one of the highest scoring televised Baker format doubles title matches in PBA history, comedian and podcast innovator Chris Hardwick (r.) and 14-time Tour winner Chris Barnes (l.) defeated actor/comedian Kevin Hart and four-time PBA Tour titlist Bill O'Neill, 270-267, to win the fifth annual Chris Paul PBA League All-Stars tournament. The event was staged Jan. 7 at Lucky Strike LA Live and aired Sunday, February 4, on ESPN just before the Super Bowl XLVII.

Steelers Linebacker LaMarr Woodley becomes fifth PBA League owner

Woodley joins Los Angeles Clippers star guard Chris Paul, former Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, former NFL all-pro receiver Terrell Owens and actor/comedian Kevin Hart as owners in the PBA League which debuts as part of the PBA Detroit Winter Swing Jan. 19-27 at Thunderbowl Lanes in the Detroit suburb of Allen Park, Mich.

The tape-delay telecast of the fifth round in Singles and four rounds in Doubles featuring one ball, low-man/team-out elimination matches aired Saturday on ESPN.
