Jeon Eunhee (pictured left) of Korea rolled two huge games on Wednesday morning at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to capture the first gold medal at the 2015 Women's World Championships in the Singles event.

In the gold medal match, Eunhee flew past Cherie Tan (pictured right with team mate Shayna Ng, right) from Singapore, 279-189, to win her second World Championship title after the victory with the Korean five-women team in 2009.

For the records, Eunhee (pictured left in action) started the match with a double, then spared a 10-pin in frame three and closed out with nine consecutive clutch strikes to shut out her opponent in the eight frame.

Tan struck on her first three shots on the left lane (#7), but struggles on the right lane, where she got only one strike in the eighth frame after a lucky break. Tan, a member of the 2014 Asian Games team champion, added a silver medal to the silver medal in the team event at the 2011 World Championships.

The medal round (click image to enlarge) featured two athletes each from Korea and Singapore. Eunhee, who was the No. 1 seed after averaging 242.83 in Monday's preliminaries on long oil (43 ft. Tokyo), took on the No. 4 seed, World Cup and Asian Games champion Shayna Ng of Singapore, who won silver in team and bronze in singles at the 2011 WWC.

Eunhee (pictured right with team mate Yeonju, right) started the match with a six-bagger bagger to lead by 29 pins in the middle of the game. She spared in the next two frames but Ng failed to take advantage. Both players struck out in the 9th and 10th frame to give the Korean a 266-238 victory.

The other semi-final match between Tan and second-seeded Hwang Yeonju was totally one-sided as Tan started with a six-bagger and Yeonju didn't double in the entire match but suffered three open frames to hand the match to Tan on silver plate, 250-160.

The 2015 Women's World Championships will be held from December 5-14 at Khalifa International Bowling Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

147 players from 30 countries will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Teams, All-Events and Masters in the seven-day competition.

In accordance with the WTBA Playing Rules, the 2015 Women's World Championships will be contested on two lane conditioning pattern, the 36 ft. Los Angeles pattern and the 43 ft. Tokyo pattern.
