WTBALogo.jpg The World Tenpin Bowling Association has decided that the 2007 World Ranking Masters will be held in Lake Wales, Florida. The United States Bowling Congress and Kegel will host the event at the Kegel Training Center from May 2 (last day of arrival) through May 8 (departure day).

Bowlingdigital Banner.gif Bowlingdigital will cover the event live from Lake Wales commencing March 3 all the way through to the finals on Monday, May 7.

2003WRMOhman-Hoffman.jpg It will mark the third time in the seven-year history of the WRM that the event will take place in Lake Wales. L-R In 2003, Anders Öhman from Sweden (2-1 vs. Bill Hoffman, USA) and Britt Bröndsted, Denmark (2-0 vs. Patricia Schwarz, Germany) walked away the winners in the men's and women's division.

2005WRMClaraGuerrero.jpg Two years later in 2005, Finn Kimmo Lehtonen (2-1 vs. his team mate Jouni Helminen) and Clara Juliana Guerrero (pictured right), Colombia (2-1 vs. Wendy Chai, Malaysia) earned the coveted titles.

Sara_Vargas_5115.jpg Last year, Guerrero's team mate Sara Vargas (left) and the host pick, Khalid Al Dubyan, won the title in Kuwait. As the WRM champion is not automatically seeded into next year's event, only Vargas, who qualified through the American Zone rankings, will be able to defend her title.

The World Ranking Masters features the top 8 players - men and women - from the 2006 rankings in each of the three FIQ/WTBA Zones, America, Asia and Europe. The host federation is allowed to pick one male and one female bowler.

As earlier reported, the Qatar Bowling Federation (QBF), had withdrawn as host of the 2007 World Ranking Masters, which should take place in Doha, from April 30 through May 6. However, the WTBA has received three applications - one from each zone - to host the event: from the United States, Indonesia and Finland, which indicates the world wide interest in this event.
