Dornberger, who serves as USBC's Chief Officer for National Governing Body, has been involved in bowling for more than 45 years, and as part of his duties, he oversees the Team USA program. He is currently Federation Internationale des Quilleurs first vice president.

The presidential election will take place in late August just before the WTBA Women's World Championships in Monterrey, Mexico. The WTBA Congress, which consists of 109 bowling federations from around the world, will make up the voting delegation.

"I am honored that USBC has decided to submit my name for contention to become the WTBA's next president," Dornberger said. "My vision is to make bowling a true Olympic sport candidate and to also find common ground amongst all the zones to solve our common problems."

Whoever is elected as president of WTBA will serve a four-year term. Current WTBA President Heikki Sarso's term expires later this year. Sarso has announced he will seek re-election to a second term.
