Canada will be one of 17 countries represented at the IV Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships

    2008CTBCLogo_small.jpg Canada will be one of 17 countries represented at the IV Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships to be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland beginning November 23, 2008.

    Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Cyprus, England, Gibraltar, Guernsey, India, Jersey, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, Singapore, Wales and the host Northern Ireland will compete.

    The gold and silver medalists from the 2007 National Championships will be Canada’s representatives.

    Gold medalist, Julie Johnson-Loyer and Mark Buffa of Chateauguay and Montreal, Quebec and Jo-Ann Sanesac, Napierville, PQ and Joe Ciach, Mississauga, Ontario, who earned silver medals in 2007, will wear Canada’s colors. Sandy Lowe, Lindsay, Ontario will coach the team and serve as Canada’s delegate.

    Competition will take place at Dundonald International Ice Bowl.

    Northern Ireland’s Sports Minister Gregory Campbell has invited the participants and officials to Stormont Parliament Buildings for a welcome reception on November 24th.

    Canada earned three medals – one gold and two silver – at the third championships that took place in Melbourne, Australia in 2006.
