WTBA President, Kevin Dornberger (pictured right), said: "It is with great pleasure and excitement that we are launching the bid process for the World Bowling Championship 2013 – the top global event for the sport of bowling. To maximize the promotional benefits and potential of the event, we strongly encourage host cities to think 'outside-the-box' in terms of city marketing and competition location. We are looking forward to finding a suitable partner to create a truly incredible event in 2013."

The bidding process is open to all cities, regions, WTBA member federations, private event organizers and corporate partners.

The World Bowling Championship 2013 is the most prestigious and biggest event in international bowling and over two weeks brings together the best bowlers in the world. Combining the Men's and Women's World Championship with two major congresses, the World Bowling Championship 2013 is now bigger than ever with up to 2,000 athletes, officials, families and friends gathering to celebrate a sport with an Olympic ambition.

The WTBA, in cooperation with TSE Consulting, the international sports consultancy, recently took the initiative to modernize the World Bowling Championship concept to make it more attractive for potential hosts, athletes and spectators.

Through organizational flexibility in key areas and on-the ground support by WTBA, the event enables hosts to maximize their return on investment and provides hosts with the opportunity to activate their communities through sport.

Interested parties have until October 1, 2010, midnight, to submit their bid documents for the World Bowling Championship 2013.

From the bid applications received, WTBA will shortlist candidate cities and site evaluation visits to these cities will be conducted in the months of October and November. The process concludes in Lausanne when the WTBA Presidium will select the 2013 host on 1-2 December.

Bid documents are available through the WTBA office or can be downloaded here.
