The 10th Columbia 300 Vienna Open will also award a PBA Tour title if won by a PBA member or a PBA international member.

As of Monday, Oct. 1st, 308 players - 253 men and 55 women - from 29 countries, Canada, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States, and the host country Austria, have registered through ViennaOpen.com.

One of the most popular tournaments on the Tour, the VO is almost sold out with currently 14 doubles spots available. Eight qualifying squads (4, 5, 9-12, 15 and 16) are fully booked. Six squads (1-3, 8, 14 and 17) offer only one empty spot each. Squads 6 and 7 offer two spots each. The most spots - four - are available in Squad 13 on Friday night.

Please note: There are still individual spots available in almost every squad as several players still not have found a doubles partner yet.

Players looking for an empty spot as well as players looking for a doubles partner must show up 90 minutes prior to a squad at the registration desk or contact tournament director Wolfgang Lohschmid at wolfgang.lohschmid@chello.at.

The qualifying of the Vienna Open is traditionally contested as a Doubles tournament with separate prize money. Each duo rolls at least one six-game block. Unlimited re-entries - with the same or with different partners - are possible but each player can only cash once with the same partner.

Qualifying runs from Tuesday, Oct. 2 through Saturday, Oct. 6 with the final Squad 17 starting at 8 p.m. local time (CEST). Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour

A total of 64 players will qualify for the Vienna Open finals on Sunday, Oct. 7:
    • the top 52 players from the overall qualifying standings
    • the first player each from Squad 1-6, who is not among the top 52 (total 6 players)
    • and the top 6 from the Desperado Squad.

The top 8 qualifying leaders will bypass the first round of the finals. The other 56 players will bowl six games starting from scratch to cut to the top 22, who will join the top qualifiers in Round Two.

Those 30 players will bowl another six games starting from scratch after which the field will be trimmed to the top 18, who will carry the pinfall forward into Round Three. After another six-game block the top 4 players with the highest 12-game total will advance to the stepladder finals.

The No. 4 seed meets the No. 3 in the opening match and the winner takes on the No. 2 seed for the right to bowl the top seed for the title, 150 ranking points and the 7.000 Euro top prize.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish in the event. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Vienna Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.
