Jeanett H. Johansen hits 1300 on the nose in Squad 10 at Norwegian Open

    Norwegian becomes the second female squad leader and the second-best woman in the 118-players field in 18th place; cut for 42nd place is 1205 (200.83 average)


    2013EBT16VelkommentilVeivetBowling.jpgJeanett Haavelmoen Johansen (pictured left) led the 10th qualifying squad of the Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick as the Norwegian hit 1300 on nose Thursday afternoon at Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo.

    Johansen had games of 258, 192, 236, 153, 168 and 245 for 1252 scratch, an average of 208.67, and added 48 pins handicap, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour, en route to move into 18th place in the overall qualifying standings.

Her compatriot Heidi Thorstensen (left), is the top-ranked woman in 10th place after leading Squad 8 on Tuesday with 1349 total.

    Arnar David Jonsson (right) of Iceland held on to the lead with 1493 (248.83 average) and is followed by Norwegians Bjørn Einar Rudshagen and Lars-Christian Nygård in second and third place with 1446 and 1413, respectively.

    Trailing Johansen by 29 pins in Squad 10 was Joakim Biehl (right), Norway, who used a 1271 series (211.83 average) to leap into 26th place overall. Biehl had six games between 200 and 229.

    Two-hander Jimmy Lillemo (below left) and Tor-Øyvind Lunde were next with 1202, but sit in 19th place (Lunde, 1299) and 38th place (Lillemo, 1214) with their previous high series.

    2013EBT16JimmyLillemo.jpgMagnus Johansson, Norway, had 1201 to miss the current cutoff number by four pins. Runar Almestrand holds the 42nd and last spot to qualify directly for Sunday's finals with 1205 and an average of 200.83.

    2013NorwegianOpenLogo.jpg The Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick is the 16th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fifth out of seven EBT "Satellite" events this season. The tournament will be held from Oct. 4-13, 2013 at 26-lane Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo, Norway.

    As a result of a sponsorship agreement with Brunswick, the NO 2013 has increased the total prize fund to 224.000 NOK (currently 27.625 Euro). The winner will receive 35.000 NOK (4.315 Euro) and the runner-up gets 20.000 NOK (2.465 Euro).

    The qualifying of the Norwegian Open runs from Friday, Oct. 4 through Saturday, Oct. 12 with the final Squad 18 scheduled for 5 p.m. local time (CEST). Women receive 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour

    In a change for 2013 the last qualifying squad on Saturday evening was replaced by two semifinal rounds and the top 60 instead of the top 40 players will cash.

    A total of 60 players will advance to the finals on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 & 13:
    • the top 42 players from the overall qualifying standings
    • two players from a separate leaderboard of Squad 1-7, who are not among the top 42
    • the next four women
    • the next four juniors (must not be born before Sept. 1, 1995)
    • the next four seniors (must be 50 years of age at the first day of the tournament)
    • and two players each from the Turbo 1 and 2 list (highest score in qualifying game 5 and 6, respectively; separate fee necessary).

    The top 8 qualifiers are qualified for Round 4, places 9-16 go to Round 3, places 17-24 start in Round 2 and places 25-28 begin in Round 1. The other 32 finalists advance to Saturday's Semifinal Round 1 which begins at 9 p.m. CEST.

    The top 24 players after three game scratch advance to the Semifinal Round 2, which gets underway at 10:30 p.m. Those bowl another three games with the pinfall carried over. The top 12 qualify for Final Round 1 starting on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

    The remaining forty players will determine the champion in five three-game rounds. The field will be trimmed from 40 to 32, 24, 16, and then eight who bowl a final three-game block with the pinfall from Round 4 carried forward.

    The player with the highest six-game total will earn the EBT title, 50 ranking points and the 35.000 NOK top prize.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 stops in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite tournaments.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament such as the Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick gets 50 ranking points.

    The top 12 men and the top 12 women at the end of the 2013 season qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
