Roger Öberg, Thor Kristian Østlie Solberg shoot 792 series to lead Round 3

    Swedish-Norwegian duo averages 264 as field is down to 16 players in Round 4; Öberg missed the fourth 300 game by one pin; average to make the cut to the fourth round is 231.67

    2015EBT15ThorKristianOstlieSolberg.jpg2015EBT15NinaFlack2.jpgSwede Roger Öberg and Thor Kristian Østlie Solberg of Norway, both lefties, tied for the highest three-game series in the finals of the Norwegian Open 2015 by Brunswick so far as the duo averaged 264 to lead Round 3 with 792 pinfall total.

    Öberg (pictured above), who had games of 299, 246 and 247, earned the bragging rights as the leader of this round as he had the higher two-game total (three-game series minus the lowest game) which breaks the tie. Solberg (left) took second place with 255, 279 and 258 and was the lone Norwegian bowler who survived the round.

    Flack, who started the hunt for her third career European Bowling Tour in the semi-final round on Saturday evening has averaged almost 230 for 15 games on her way to Round 4.

    Fourth place belonged to Irish two-hander Chris Sloan (left) who used games of 229, 247 and 280 for a 756 series (252 average).

    2015EBT15VictoriaJohansson.jpg2014EBT17JamesGruffman.jpgRounding out the top 8 were four Swedish bowlers, 8-time EBT champion Martin Larsen (above right; 743), Victoria Johansson (left; 709), 2013 Norwegian Open winner James Gruffman (right; 709) and 16-year-old Emanuel Jonsson (below right) who had a 290 game in the middle of his 695 series Sweden.

    The average to make the cut to the next round was 231.67. The top 8 will meet the top 8 qualifiers in the fourth round.

    60 of 208 players survived the qualifying cut in the Norwegian Open. The semi-final round on Saturday evening trimmed the field to 40 players who determine the champion in five three-game rounds with the first four rounds starting from scratch.

    2015EBT15EmanuelJonsson2.jpgThe field will be cut to 32, 24, 16, and then eight players who bowl a final three-game round with the pinfall from Round 4 being carried forward. The player with the highest six-game total will earn the title, the 40.000 NOK top prize and 50 EBT ranking points (men and women in separate rankings).

    2015NorwegianOpenLogo.jpg The Norwegian Open 2015 by Brunswick is the 15th and penultimate stop of the 2015 European Bowling Tour, the last of nine EBT "Satellite" events and the last EBT event on European soil this season. The tournament will be held from Oct. 2-11 at Veitvet Bowling Center in in Norway's capital city of Oslo.

    The tournament offers total prize fund of 239.000 Norwegian Kronor or more than 25.000 Euro with 40.000 NOK going to the winner and a last-to-cash payout of 1.000 Kronor for 60th place.

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 16 tournaments in 12 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and seven "Satellite" events. All 16 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 850.000 Euro.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.
