LGB Northcliff Bowl rebuilding nears completion

2011BWCNorthcliffBowlRenovation2_small.jpgTony Sham, editor-in-chief of the South African Tenpin Bowling Newsletter, informs that the rebuilding of LGB Northcliff Bowl in Johannesburg, South Africa, is nearing completion. The bowling center will host the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from Nov. 30 through Dec. 7, 2011. Many bowlers in South Africa including Sham started their bowling careers at the Northcliff Bowl and he got a huge dose of nostalgia when he walked into the Northcliff Center and down the stairs to the bowling center.

Bergès, Manico cruise to victory in Swiss World Cup Qualifier

Represent their country in South Africa for the second time since 2004

2011BWCSwissQBigiManicoMathieuBerges_small.jpgMathieu Bergès and Bigi Manico (pictured left) won the men's and women's division of the Swiss World Cup Qualifier at Bowling Beseco in Rümikon-Winterthur last weekend and will represent Switzerland at the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup later this year. The last time Bergès and Manico have bowled together on a World Cup was 2004 in Singapore. The 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will take place at Northcliff Bowling Center in Johannesburg, South Africa, from Nov. 30 - Dec. 7, 2011.

Sue Abela, Justin Caruana Scicluna to represent Malta at Bowling World Cup

After this success they will now be representing Malta in the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa (Nov. 30 - Dec. 7, 2011). The qualifying event, sponsored by TENOVAR Ltd. was played to a simple but reliable 24-game format over three 8-game sessions.

Shahaf Antin, Ben Fishler to represent Israel at World Cup in South Africa

2011BWCISRQBenFishlerShahafAntin_small.jpgShahaf Antin and Ben Fishler won the women's and men's division of the Israeli World Cup qualifier at Gan Shmuel bowling center and will represent their country at the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa. Fishler, who advanced to the men's finals by just one pin, defeated No. 1 Or Aviram and No. 6 Gal Shemer in the title match, 429-410-388. Antin, seeded third, survived a low-scoring women's final against No. 1 Sarit Mizrahi and No. 6 Hana Duanis, 339-333-302.

Louw, Van der Berg take LGB SuperBowl in Cape Town, South Africa

Will bowl for the host country in 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

2011BWCRSAQFrancoisLouw_small.jpgFrancois Louw Jr. and Marika van der Berg took the men's and women's scratch titles in the LGB SuperBowl in Cape Town, South Africa, last weekend. As winners the duo will represent the host country in the QubicaAMF World Cup at at Northcliff Bowling Center in Johannesburg from Nov. 30 through Dec. 7. In the men's division Louw (pictured) averaged 230.50 over 24 games to beat out fellow South African national team member Garreth Hechter for the top spot by 250 pins. On the women's side, Van der Berg had a 134-pin buffer over Petruschka Dekker.

Caio Pizzoli wins XX Copa AMF Brazil in Sao Paulo

Earns his second berth into QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

2011BWCBRAQCaioPizzoli_small.jpg Caio Pizzoli (pictured) defeated Renan Zoghaib, 220-206, in the championship match of the XX Copa AMF Brazil Sunday at Dragon Bowling Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil en route to win the title and to earn the right to represent Brazil in the 2011 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. It is Pizzoli's second berth into the BWC after Caracas, Venezuela in 2006. There was no women's division in the Copa AMF Brazil this year. The 47th edition of the Bowling World Cup will be held at Northcliff Bowling Center in Johannesburg, South Africa from Nov. 30 through Dec. 7.

Grishinenko, Panchenko capture national titles in 2011 Kazakhstan Cup

Will represent their country in the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in South Africa

2011KAZCupYelenaGrishinenkoAlexandrPanchenko_small.jpgYelena Grishinenko (l.) of Almaty and Alexandr Panchenko (r.) of Petropavlovsk captured the women's and men's titles in the 2011 Kazakhstan Cup at Bowling Club Olimp in Almaty. Grishinenko had a 596-pin lead after 19 games including match play bonus to cruise to her second national title. 15-year-old Panchenko rolled his first career 300 in qualifying and never looked back. Both champions will represent Kazakhstan in the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in South Africa.

Kovalova, Kalika successfully defend titles in Ukrainian Championship

2011UKRNCDariaKovalova_small.jpg2011UKRNCMikhailKalika_small.jpgDaria Kovalova (l.) of Kiev and Mikhail Kalika (r.) of Odessa won the women's and men's titles in the 2010-11 Ukrainian National Championships. It was the fifth career national title for Kalika, while 16-year old Kovalova won her second adult title. The 2010-2011 Championship consisted of ten events which were held from Sept. 2010 through June 2011. Players received ranking points for their position in each event. The champions were determined based on the best eight results.
