World Senior Championships kicks off Sunday with Official Practice and Opening Ceremonies

Competition gets underway Monday with the Singles event at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas and concludes on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 with the Masters

2012RedRockLanes2_small.jpgThe inaugural World Tenpin Bowling Association World Senior Championships will kick off with the official practice and the opening ceremonies Sunday at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas. The more than 200 players from 33 countries will be split into two squads for one-and-half hours of practice on the 60 tournament lanes. Squad A starts at 10.30 a.m. and Squad B follows immediately after the lane maintanance at 2 p.m. The opening ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m.

World Tenpin Bowling Association President Kevin Dornberger (pictured) officially declared open the inaugural World Seniors Championships Sunday afternoon at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, Nev. 213 players age 50 and older from 33 countries plus officials, coaches, family, friends and supporters gathered in front of the 60 tournament lanes for the Opening Ceremonies. Following the national anthem of the United States of America was the competitor's oath recited by Senior Team USA's Del Ballard Jr. and Lucy Sandelin.

World Tenpin Bowling Association extends entry deadline for Aug. 10-16 event and releases Bulletin No. 2; 210 players from 32 federations have registered so far

2011WTBALogo_small.jpgThe WTBA has announced that it has extended the entry deadline for the 1st World Senior Championships. The event will be conducted Aug. 10-16, 2013 at 72-lane Red Rock Lanes inside the famous Red Rock Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. As of July 10, 210 players - 124 men and 86 women - from 32 WTBA member federations have registered for the event. To participate players must be born December 31st, 1963 or before.

U.S. team named for 1st World Senior Championships

On the men's side, the USA will be represented by Del Ballard Jr. (l.), Ron Mohr, Hugh Miller and Ed Roberts. All four members of the women's squad, Lucy Sandelin, Robin Romeo, Anne Marie Duggan (r.) and Tish Johnson are members of the USBC Hall of Fame.

WTBA releases Bulletin No. 1 for 1st World Senior Championships

2013WSrCLogo_small.jpgThe WTBA has released Bulletin No. 1 for the 1st World Senior Championships, which will be held Aug. 10-16, 2013 at 72-lane Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. To participate in the first edition of the championships, players must be born December 31st, 1963 or before. Bulletin No. 1 contains information preliminary schedule, the official hotel, the bowling center, various facilities and services, various fees and forms and deadlines.
