Robin Romeo, Hugh Miller conclude World Senior Championships with victory in Masters

Both gold medal matches featured one bowler each from the U.S. and Sweden, the two dominating countries of the championships, which offered gold medals in five diciplines to bowlers age 50 and over.

All-Events champions Mohr, Romeo continue to lead as Masters field is cut to top 8

The top 8 players will return on Friday morning at 9.30 a.m. for seven games of round robin match play before the cut to the top four, who will advance to the playoffs for the title.

Sweden sweeps men's and women's Team titles at World Senior Championships

Women beat top seeded Canadians for the title; men defeat Senior Team USA in title match

Susanne Olsson, Ann-Ki Larsson Carlsson, Lena Sulkanen and Christel Carlsson (l.) defeated the top-seeded Canadians, 827-679, to claim the women's gold medal. Jan Nordberg, Christer Pettersson, Stefan Yngström and Christer Danielsson (r.) took down Senior Team USA, 903-816, for the men's title.

Senior Team USA's Lucy Sandelin and Christer Danielsson of Sweden (r-l) started the inaugural World Senior Championships with victory in the Singles competition Monday evening at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, Nev. Sandelin defeated Danielsson's fellow countrywoman Christel Carlsson in the women's title match, 235-192, to claim the women's title. Danielsson topped Sandelin's compatriot Ron Mohr with a double in the 10th frame, 214-210, to win the men's title.

World Senior Championships kicks off Sunday with Official Practice and Opening Ceremonies

Competition gets underway Monday with the Singles event at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas and concludes on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 with the Masters

2012RedRockLanes2_small.jpgThe inaugural World Tenpin Bowling Association World Senior Championships will kick off with the official practice and the opening ceremonies Sunday at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas. The more than 200 players from 33 countries will be split into two squads for one-and-half hours of practice on the 60 tournament lanes. Squad A starts at 10.30 a.m. and Squad B follows immediately after the lane maintanance at 2 p.m. The opening ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m.

World Tenpin Bowling Association President Kevin Dornberger (pictured) officially declared open the inaugural World Seniors Championships Sunday afternoon at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, Nev. 213 players age 50 and older from 33 countries plus officials, coaches, family, friends and supporters gathered in front of the 60 tournament lanes for the Opening Ceremonies. Following the national anthem of the United States of America was the competitor's oath recited by Senior Team USA's Del Ballard Jr. and Lucy Sandelin.

The event will be conducted Aug. 10-16, 2013 at 72-lane Red Rock Lanes inside the famous Red Rock Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. As of July 10, 210 players - 124 men and 86 women - from 32 WTBA member federations have registered for the event. To participate players must be born December 31st, 1963 or before.

To participate in the first edition of the championships, players must be born December 31st, 1963 or before. Bulletin No. 1 contains information preliminary schedule, the official hotel, the bowling center, various facilities and services, various fees and forms and deadlines.
