Sweden, Germany, Austria, Denmark to bowl for the medals in Doubles at the 2007 Men's European Championships

    2007MECMartinLarsenRobertAndersson.jpg Reigning World Champions in Doubles, Robert Andersson and Martin Larsen (r-l) from Sweden, earned the No. 1 seed for the Doubles finals in the 2007 Men's European Championships at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria.

    The duo posted a new championship record on long oil (45 ft.) with 2818 (243.83 average) en route to finish with 5450 12-game total and an average of 227.08.

    2007MECJesperAgerboBoWintherPedersen.jpg For the first time in the history of this event, the European Doubles champion will be determined in a one-game match play final of the top 4 teams.

    Sweden, the No. 1 seed, will meet No. 4, Jesper Agerbo and Bo Winther Pedersen (l-r). The Danes, who led the field after six games on short oil with 2713, secured the fourth and final spot with 5262 pinfall total and an average of 219.25.

    Despite being handicapped by a fractured toe, Grabowski, a 3-time World Championship silver medalist, and 2001 World Games champion Gäbler had 2662 on short and 2644 on long oil to take the No. 2 seed with 5306 and an average of 221.08.

"Tom-Tom", who were tied for ninth place after the short-oil portion of the event, felled 2719 pins on long oil to move into third place with 5280 and an average of 220.00.

    The semi-finals will start at 6 pm. The winners will bowl for the title and the losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are one-game matches. The higher seed in any match will choose the lane condition (short or long oil) to play on.
