Second Finnish trio leads Squad 2 to move into third place at 2007 Men's European Championships

Defending European Trios champion Petteri Salonen and team mates Osku Palermaa and Timo Alho led the second of three squads in the Trios event to move into third place in the overall standing with 1981 pinfall total and an average of 220.11.
Reigning World Cup champion Palermaa led the way with 721 including a final game of 279. Salonen had 626 and Alho added 626.
Their compatriots Joonas Jehkinen, Jari Ratia and Kimmo Lehtonen (l-r with coach Sami Konsteri on the far left) remained unchallenged after posting a new championship record of 2167, a 240.78 average, in the first squad, which was high lighted by a 300 game by Ratia.
Swedes Magnus Andersson, Tobias Karlsson and Dennis Eklund are sandwiched between the two Finnish trios in second place with 1985 . The trio had games of 709, 671 and 605 for 1985 pinfall total and an average of 220.56.
Norway with Lasse Ingebrigtsen, Per Kristian Eide and Glenn Morten Pedersen slipped one spot to fourth place with 1980 (220.00).
England's Darren Cundy, English ranking champion Dominic Barrett and Mike Quarry positioned themselves in fifth place with 1966 pinfall and an average of 218.44. Remco Verboon, Michael Kok and Peter Smits, Netherlands, overtook the sixth position with 1953 (217.00).
Featuring the third and final squad on Thursday afternoon are Doubles champions Thomas Tybl and Thomas Gross, Austria, who will team with Manfred Panzenböck.
All players will return on Friday for the second 3-game block on long oil (45 feet). The gold, silver and bronze medalists will be determined Friday evening starting at 7.30 p.m. in a one-game match play finals of the top 4 teams.
