Finland bowls Finland and England meets Denmark in Trios semi-finals at 2007 Men's European Championships

L-R Danes Bo Winther Pedersen, Thomas Larsen and Jesper Agerbo rolled a 1939 3-game series on long oil (45 feet) to move into third place in the Trios event in the 2007 Men's European Championships at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria, as the field was cut to the top 4 teams for the finals.
The Danes totaled 4019 pins, an average of 223.27 over six games, to set up a semi-final match against Darren Cundy, Mike Quarry and Dominic Barrett (l-r). The Englishmen landed in second place with 4031 pinfall total and an average of 223.94.
The other semi-final match will be an all-Finnish affair in which No. 1 seed (l-r) Kimmo Lehtonen, Jari Ratia and Joonas Jehkinen (4140) clash with team mates and No. 4 seed Timo Alho, Petteri Salonen, and Osku Palermaa (pictured below, l-.r, 3920).
The Danish feat came at the expense of Swedes Magnus Andersson, Tobias Karlsson and Dennis Eklund, who slipped out of the top 4 to finish in fifth place with 3899.
The biggest surprise thus far in the tournament was a six-place finish by Russians Gennadiy Sidorov, Andrey Shultse and Sergey Andreev, who checked in with 3866 pins, just 54 short of the medals.
The top 4 four teams after six games - three on short and three on long oil - will advance to the semi-finals starting at 7.30 p.m. The No. 1 seed bowls the No. 4 seed ands No. 2 meets No. 3. The winners advance to the title match and the losers will share the bronze medal. One-game matches, the higher seed in any match will choose the lane condition (short or long oil) to play on.
Pedersen remained atop the leaderboard in All Events after 18 games (12 games in Doubles and 6 games in Trios) with 4107 pinfall total and an average of 228.17. Germany's Achim Grabowski is second at 4087 with Darren Cundy, England, in third at 4048.
