The Swedes, who had the right to choose the oil pattern, decided to bowl on the 45-foot long oil pattern, but had some work to do before they finally defeated Leonidas Maragkos, Stavros Parasakis, Evangelos Krizinis, Nikolaos Boufesis, Dimitrios Karetsos and Ioannis Stathatos coached by Koos Groenenburg (pictured on the right), 984-952.
In the other semi-final match Norwegians Glenn Morten Pedersen, Svein Roger Olsen, Lasse Ingebrigtsen, Mads Sandbaekken, Petter Hansen, Per Kristian Eide and coach Mats Karlsson (pictured left) upset tournament leader and defending champion Finland with Kimmo Lehtonen, Joonas Jehkinen, Timo Alho, Petteri Salonen, Osku Palermaa, Jari Ratia and coach Sami Konsteri (pictured above on the left), in a higher scoring match also on long oil, 1077-1046.
The championship match on short oil was close until the eighth frame when the Swedes pulled away and cruised to victory. Norway got the silver medal and Finland and Greece shared the bronze medal.
