Lagrange, who won the 2009 World Cup, averaged 151.67 for the first of four qualifying blocks including games of 279, 258, 247, 220, 248 and 258 to lead her nearest competitor Luminita Farkas (r.) of Romania by 98 pins.

Peter Hellström averages over 257 to take the first round lead in Men's World Cup

Swede fires a 1543 series to lead a field of 74 players after 6 of 24 qualifying games; 12 players crack the 1400-bar; another 26 players surpass the 1300-mark; three players achieve perfection; cut for 24th place is currently 1364 (227.33 average)

2013BWCPeterHellstrom_small.jpg Peter Hellström (pictured left) of Sweden averaged 257.17 in the opening qualifying block to take the lead in the men's division after the opening round in the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The two-time European Bowling Tour champion started his six-game series with back-to-back 267 games and a high game of 279and closed things out with back-to-back 236 low games and a final 258. Another twelve players cracked the 1400-bar Monday at Sharovaya Molniya Bowling Center in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia.

Szczerbinski and McEwan will travel to the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, to compete in the 49th World Cup, which begins Monday with the first round of qualifying. BowlTV will provide live streaming of the entire World Cup from start to finish.

Rash defeats Koivuniemi twice to win his seventh PBA title in World Bowling Tour Thailand

Singapore's Dahne Tan finishes fourth to win the women's ranking in Bangkok; the men's field for the World Bowling Tour Finals will include Rash, Koivuniemi and Mike Fagan

2013WBTThailandSeanRashMikaKoivuniemi_small.jpgIn an all-PBA finale, reigning PBA Player of the Year Sean Rash (l.), United States, defeated two-time PBA Player of the Year Mika Koivuniemi (r.), Finland, 235-225 and 245-228, to win the World Bowling Tour Thailand event Monday at Blu-O Paragon bowling center in Bangkok. Rash received the one million Baht top prize (approx. $32,140) and earned his seventh career PBA title and the second international title of the 2012-2013 PBA/WBT season.

WTBA announces preliminary 2014 World Bowling Tour Schedule

WBTLogo_small.jpgThe World Tenpin Bowling Association, bowling's governing body, has announced the preliminary 2014 World Bowling Tour schedule. The 2014 WBT will start with the PBA World Championship in Las Vegas later this month. The schedule currently features up to 17 events including up to 10 events in Arabic countries, three in the U.S., two in Europe and up to two in Asia. The final schedule will be announced at a later date.

Tight race on men's side, women's field determined for World Bowling Tour finals

Sean Rash (l.) of the United States leads a tight grouping near the top of the men's points list, while Kelly Kulick (r.) has a stranglehold on the women's standings heading into the final event. The top three men and top three women will advance to the World Bowling Tour Finals in Las Vegas in Nov. 3.

USBC Coaching makes impact at WTBA World Championships

The global reach of the USBC Coaching Certification and Development department was on full display at the recent WTBA World Championships. The prestigious event, which took place Aug. 16-30 in Henderson, Nev., not only featured the sport of bowling's top players but also its top coaches. There were 24 active USBC certified coaches helping guide the world's best bowlers from 46 countries.

Finland's Ahlström, USA's Reichert honored with WTBA John Davis Memorial Award

Former longtime Finnish Bowling Federation president Kauko Ahlström and former Brunswick Chairman and CEO Jack Reichert have been selected to win the inaugural World Tenpin Bowling Association John Davis Memorial Award. The award, named after the late Kegel founder John Davis, recognizes individuals who have selflessly devoted their time and resources to the sport of bowling over a significant period of time. The John Davis Memorial Award is awarded entirely at the discretion of the WTBA.

The final two events of the WBT season will determine the top three men and top three women, who will compete in the World Bowling Tour Finals. The next event is the Columbia 300 Vienna Open, which will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 6 in Vienna, Austria.

Hügin led the women's division from wire-to-wire to finish 229 pins ahead of second-place Bigi Manico. The men's winner was decided in the 29th and last game. Ramsak topped Junior Team Switzerland member Kevin Haasper by mere four pins to take the ticket to Siberia.

Las Vegas to host 2015 World Seniors; Qatar to host 2016 World Singles Championships

2011WTBALogo_small.jpgAfter successful inaugural events, the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Senior Championships and World Singles Championships will return in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The 2015 World Senior Championships have been awarded to Sam's Town in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, while the 2016 World Singles Championships have been awarded to Doha, Qatar. The events are tentatively scheduled for between July and September 2015 (WSrC) and for the end of 2016 (WSC).

In the stepladder finals in best-of-three- game format, top seeded Vieira and Lopez, topped their opponents Fatima Jordão and Alex Fortuna, who both came from the No. 4 seed, two-games-to-none.

Kevin Dornberger, President and CEO of the WTBA and President of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs, made the official presentation at the FIQ and WTBA Congresses, which were held right after the conclusion of the WTBA World Championships, Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, at Sunset Station Hotel in Henderson, Nev., United States.

In the men's title match between Squad A and B leaders, Azevedo defeated Pedro Lima, 202-188, while Rodrigues topped Elisa Kim, 224-187, to capture the women's stepladder final.

2013 combined WTBA World Championships comes to a close with Victory Banquet

2013WCLogo_small.jpg The 2013 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Championships came to a close Friday evening, August 30, with the victory banquet which started with the award ceremonies of the men's and women's five-player team events. 428 players, 216 men and 212 women, from 44 countries participated in the first combined adult World Championships since 2003. Korea beats defending champion United States, 1159-992, to win the first ever Team gold for Korea; USA takes silver, Malaysia and Venezuela share bronze

Korea's Ryu Seo-Yeon, Lee Na-Young, Kim Moon-Jeong, Jung Da-Wun and Son Yun-Hee (pictured), who made the finals in fourth place, defeated the top-seeded U.S. women Stefanie Nation, Missy Parkin, Shannon O'Keefe, Kelly Kulick and Liz Johnson, 1159-992, to win the coveted gold medal in the Women's Team event. It is third women's team gold medal for Korea at World Championships after 1999 and 2009 and the fourth gold medal in this championships by the Korean women (fifth overall).

Son Yun-Hee defeats Kim Moon-Jeong in all-Korean affair to win gold in Women's Masters

Ryu Seo-Yeon, Korea, and Team USA's Liz Johnson share the bronze medal

2013WCRyuKimJohnsonSon_small.jpgIn an all-Korean championship match, Son Yun-Hee (r.) defeated Kim Moon-Jeong, 211-193, to win the gold medal in Women's Masters at the World Championships. Yun-Hee, the No. 3 seed, never trailed in the title match on dual lane condition and sealed the victory with a nine-count in the 10th frame. In the semifinals, Moon-Jeong defeated Ryu Seo-Yeon of Korea, 208-180, and Yun-Hee topped Team USA's Liz Johnson, 232-213. Moon-Jeong received the silver medal, Ryu and Johnson shared bronze.
