Belgium's Gery Verbruggen (left) averaged 232,6 for ten games in the second block of match play and has an overall average of 233,95 for 21 games to hold the top spot in the World Bowling Masters as the field was cut to top sixteen. Third-placed Bill Hoffman of the United States is the sole right-hander among the top five and also the only survivor from the American Zone.

The WTBA will conclude its 2000 ranking season with the inaugural World Bowling Masters in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The special event will include 49 of the world's top amateur bowlers from the FIQ/WTBA American, Asian and European Zone and will be contested in the Khalifa International Bowling Stadium from Friday, April 21 through Thursday, April 25.
The inaugural World Bowling Masters, originally scheduled for February 19-26 and recently postponed to March 15-22 is postponed for the second time. The event is now supposed to be held April 17-25 in the Khalifa International Bowling Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
