Verbruggen holds top spot after round robin

Lefthanders take control of the World Bowling Masters

2002WRMGeryVerbruggen.jpg Belgium's Gery Verbruggen (left) averaged 232,6 for ten games in the second block of match play and has an overall average of 233,95 for 21 games to hold the top spot in the World Bowling Masters as the field was cut to top sixteen. Third-placed Bill Hoffman of the United States is the sole right-hander among the top five and also the only survivor from the American Zone.

Lefty Verbruggen fired games of 213, 249, 181, 236, 219, 268, 248, 243, 216, 246 and 268 en route to a 2587 11-game total and has collected a 9-2 match play record.

To gain the No. 1 position, Ho amassed a 2328 11-game pinfall total for a tournament-best 211,64 average and went 6-5 in match play.

The special event will include 49 of the world's top amateur bowlers from the FIQ/WTBA American, Asian and European Zone and will be contested in the Khalifa International Bowling Stadium from Friday, April 21 through Thursday, April 25.

EBF postpones World Bowling Masters for the second time

The event is now supposed to be held April 17-25 in the Khalifa International Bowling Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
