Mattias Jansson from Sweden and Dutch Carmen Haandrikman won the gold medal in the Boys and Girls Masters competition to end the 22nd European Youth Championships Easter Sunday at Baltiska Bowlinghallen in Malmo, Sweden. In the best-of-three games boys finale, Jansson followed in the footprints of his father Raymond Jansson (1984 EYC champion) when he made quick work of Singles champion and All Events silver medalist, Arturs Levikins, Latvia, 225-189 and 200-153. Haandrikman swept Jansson's team mate All Events champion Elin Adolfsson, 238-204 and 222-174 to wrap up the girls title.

The title matches of the Girls and Boys Singles competition at the 22nd European Youth Championships in Malmo, Sweden, featured the No. 1 seed vs. the No. 2 seed, and both top seeds cruised to the title with big games. In the Girls finale, Joline Persson Planefors, Sweden, flew past Chantal Jacobs, Netherlands, 255-203, to easily win the gold medal. Arturs Levikins, Latvia, fired a 279 in the semis, then edged equally tough Mik Stampe, Denmark, in the boys title match, 266-254.
Persson earns top seed for Singles finals, Adolfsson wins gold in All Events
Joline Persson Planefors, Sweden, earned the No. 1 seed for the Girls Singles finals by winning the six-game preliminaries with 1314 pinfall total and an average of 219.00. Her team mate Elin Adolfsson grabbed the fourth and final spot with 1279 en route to win the gold medal in All Events. The Swedes will meet in the semifinals while No. 2 seed, Chantal Jacobs (1299), Netherlands, takes on Polina Kosyakova (1292), Russia.

Both No. 4 qualifiers, the Finnish girls and the Greek boys, cruised to the title in the 4-player team event in the 22nd European Youth Championships Thursday evening at Baltiska Bowlinghallen in Malmo, Sweden. Finland (l.) defeated No. 3 Israel in the girls' final, 790-759, to win the gold medal. On the boys side, Greece (r.) topped the Swedish boys, seeded second, 800-775.

Overnight leader Denmark with Anders Lousdal, Mik Stampe, Carsten W. Hansen and Mads Hedegaard held on to the lead in the second 3-game block of the Boys Team event en route to grab the No. 1 seed for today's finals. The Danes added 2508 to the 2561 from yesterday to win the preliminaries with 5069 pinfall total and an average of 211.21. Sweden jumped from fifth to second in the last game, with Latvia in third and Greece in fourth place.

with record performance, teamed with Carsten W. Hansen and Mads Hedegaard to take the lead in the Boys 4-player team event at the 22nd European Youth Championships after 3 of 6 games. The Danes had games of 862, 790 and 909 to lead the field of 24 countries with 2561 pinfall total and an average of 213.42. The Latvian team was second with 2505, with Sweden in third 2498 and
Greece in fourth 2430. Evangelos Krizinis, Greece, rolled the

The top seeded Swedish girls defeated Israel's Mor Dayan and Liat Vizenfeld, seeded 3rd, in the title match, 474-400. The English boys, the No. 2 seeds, secured the title with a 462-434 win over 4th seeded Marcel Obst and Steven Wiersema from Germany.

It's Easter time and Europe's top boys and girls bowlers are getting ready to start the 22nd annual European Youth Championships. The 7-day competition runs from April 6-12 at Baltiska Bowlinghallen in Malmo, Sweden. The EYC 2009 are divided in two divisions - boys and girls. Each team consists of maximum four male and four female players, who will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Teams, All Events and Masters. 30 ETBF member federations have conformed to participate.
