Estonia's Kert Truus ends 23rd European Youth Championships with victory in Boys Masters

Shoots the Championship's fourth 300 in the deciding game of the title match

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg Kert Truus from Estonia saved his best the very last game of the 23rd European Youth Championships and rolled a 300 game to win the gold medal in Boys Masters with a 2-1 victory over Carsten W. Hansen, Denmark. Truus opened with a 235-225 win in game one but Hansen rebounded with a 224-191 win in game two to force a deciding third game. Hansen, who won the gold medal in Doubles with Mik Stampe, earned the silver medal while Marcus Henriksson, Sweden and Arturs Levikins, Latvia, shared the bronze medal.

Israel's Shahaf Antin wins Girls Masters title at 23rd European Youth Championships

2010EYCGirlsMastersPodium_small.jpgShahaf Antin from Israel came back from a 0-1 deficit to defeat Marija Tkachenko, Latvia, two-games-to-one, en route to win the gold medals in the Girls Masters competition in the 23rd European Youth Championships Easter Sunday at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France. It was the first gold medal in the Girls' Division which wasn't won by a Swedish bowler. Tkachenko earned the silver medal while Ida Andersson, Sweden, and Nadine Motzer, Germany, shared the bronze medal.

Jenny Wegner wins gold medals No. 3 and No. 4 in Girls Singles and All Events

Sweden targets to sweep the titles in Girls' Division at European Youth Championships

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg Doubles and Team champion Jenny Wegner from Sweden added gold medals No. 3 and No. 4 in the 23rd European Youth Championships by winning the titles in All Events and Singles Saturday. Wegner fired a 1380 six-game series in the Singles preliminaries (230 average) to secure her third gold medal in All Events with 3837 (213.16) and to earn the No. 1 seed for the Singles finals. In the title match, Wegner cruised to her fourth title in as many events with a 189-157 victory over Kirsten MacGregor, England.

Jesse Kallio nearly perfect on his way to the EYC Boys Singles title

Wins his second gold medal of the Championships with 299-255 win over Daniels Vezis

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg European Youth Championships All Events champion Jesse Kallio from Finland flirted with perfection, firing 11 strikes to start the title match of the Boys Singles finals against Daniels Vezis, Latvia, en route to win the gold medal at the 23rd European Youth Championships Saturday at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France, 299-255. Kallio earned his second gold medal of the Championships. Vezis received the silver medal while Lars Wouters, Belgium, and Mik Stampe, Denmark, shared the bronze medal.

Finns Kallio, Kurpa take gold and bronze in All Events at European Youth Championships

Silver medalist Wouters earns No. 1 seed for Boys Singles finals

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg Jesse Kallio from Finland averaged 217.66 over 18 games (combined results in Singles, Doubles and Team) to win the gold medal in Boys All Events in the 23rd European Youth Championships at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France. Kallio's team mate Niko Kurppa earned the bronze medal with 3865. Sandwiched between the two Finns to claim silver was Lars Wouters, Belgium, with 3885. Wouters (1426), Kallio (1401), Dane Mik Stampe (1371) and Daniels Vezis (1360), Latvia, advanced to the Boys Singles finals.

Sweden sweeps Team gold 23rd European Youth Championships in France

Swedish Boys beat Greece for Sweden's third gold medal of the Championships

Sweden captured the third gold medal out of four events thus far at the 23rd European Youth Championships when Marcus Henriksson, Markus Jansson, Daniel Fransson and Magnus Johnson defeated Greece in the title match of the Boys 4-player Team event, 795-735. Antonios Zafras and Vasileios Stefopoulos, who won silver in Doubles, and their team mates Thomas Sellas and Dimitrios Fragkakis earned the silver medal, while Finland and England shared the bronze medal.

Second gold medal for Swedish Girls in Team event at European Youth Championships

Beat England in a re-match of the Doubles finals

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg European Youth Championships Girls Doubles champions Elin Adolfsson and Jenny Wegner teamed with Ida Andersson and Josefine Linderoth to win the second gold medal for Sweden in the Girls 4-player Team event Thursday. The four Swedes, seeded third in the one-game single-elimination finals after averaging 194.50 in the six-game preliminaries, defeated No. 4 England with Autum Chamberlain, Anneleise Vokes, Rebekah Hamlett and Kirsten Macgregor in a high-scoring rematch of the Doubles final, 826-811.

Sweden defends Girls Doubles title at 23rd European Youth Championships

Elin Adolfsson repeats her 2009 win with Jenny Wegner

2010EYCLogo_small.jpg Elin Adolfsson, who won the 2009 European Youth Championships Girls Doubles gold medal with Isabell Hultin teamed with Jenny Wegner to defend the title Tuesday evening at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France. The Swedes, who earned the No. 3 seed after the six-game preliminaries, defeated top seeded Autum Chamberlain and Kirsten Macgregor, England, 386-357.  Chamberlain/Macgregor received the silver medal while Ushakova/Korobkova, Russia and Antin/Bachar, Israel shared the bronze.

Hansen and Mik Stampe, Denmark, the No. 2 seed after the six-game preliminaries defeated top seeded Antonios Zafras and Vasileios Stefopoulos, Greece, 427-387, to win the first gold medal of the 23rd European Youth Championships at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France. Zafras/Stefopoulos earned silver while Daniels Vezis/Arturs Levikins, Latvia and Mikhail Belenkiy/Roman Starchenkov, Russia shared the bronze medal.
