Michail Tsimplakakis concludes 26th European Youth Championships with victory in Boys Masters

2013EYCLogo_small.jpg Michail Tsimplakakis of Greece defeated David Vitek, Czech Republic, 2-1, to win the Boys Masters title at the 26th European Youth Championships Easter Sunday at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. In the deciding third game in best-of-three games match play, Tsimplakakis secured the gold medal with a huge 248-229 win. It was the first medal for both countries in the last event of the Championships. Oyvin Kulseng, Norway and Antonino Fiorentino, Italy got bronze.

Amanda Larkin of Ireland remains undefeated to win Girls Masters title

2013EYCLogo_small.jpg Amanda Larkin of Ireland, seeded 9th, defeated No. 12 seed, Andrea Hansen of Norway, 215-177 and 207-162, for a 2-0 victory in the best-of-three games format to capture the gold medal in Girls Masters at the 26th European Youth Championships Easter Sunday at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. It was the first medal for Ireland in the Championships. Hansen received silver while Tamara Adler of Austria and Sweden's Annie Thorell shared the bronze medal.

England's Keira Reay wins two gold medals in Girls All Events and Singles

2013EYCLogo_small.jpg Keira Reay of England used a huge 1359 series to earn the No. 1 seed for the Girls Singles finals en route to win the gold medal in All Events with 3926 total (218.11 avg.) at the 26th European Youth Championships in Vienna, Austria. In an all-English title match, Reay topped team mate Hannah Frost, 231-173, to capture the Singles title and to give England the lead in the overall medal tally. Semi-final losers Maria Bulanova of Russia and Sweden's Lisa Björklund took bronze.

England's Hadley Morgan rolls two big games to win Boys Singles title at EYC in Vienna

2013EYCLogo_small.jpg Hadley Morgan of England rolled two big games in the Boys Singles finals to cruise to the title and to win his second gold medal at the 26th European Youth Championships in Vienna, Austria. Morgan, who also won the Doubles event, defeated Oyvin Kulseng, Norway, in the title match, 254-197, to deny the defending champion's bid for back-to-back titles. Top seeded Markus Bergendorff, Denmark, and Pontus Andersson, Sweden, shared the bronze medal.

Jesper Svensson wins the third gold medal for Sweden in Boys All Events

Bergendorff (DEN), Morgan (ENG), Andersson (SWE) and defending champion Kulseng (NOR) to bowl for the Singles title Saturday at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria; the top 24 in All Events advance to Sunday's Masters finals

Saku Konttila, Finland (4034) took silver and Hadley Morgan, England (3926) bronze. Markus Bergendorff, Denmark (1336), Hadley Morgan, England (1329), Pontus Andersson, Sweden (1325), and defending champion Oyvin Kulseng, Norway (1319) will bowl for the Singles title.

Swedish boys cruise to the EYC Team title in spectacular fashion

Swedish four-some shoot games of 1059 (264.75 average) and 962 (240.50) to give Sweden a gold-medal sweep in the Team event

2013EYCLogo_small.jpg Sweden's Jesper Svensson, Emil Nilsson, Pontus Andersson and Filip Wilhelmsson fired games of 1059 (vs. Norway, 731) and 962 to fly past Germany (861, Christian Birlinger, Alexander Will, Robin Menacher, Dominic Buchmann) in the title match of the Boys Team event to give Sweden a gold-medal sweep in the Team competition Thursday at the 26th European Youth Championships. Germany took the silver medal while Finland and Norway got bronze.

Swedish girls claim Team gold medal at European Youth Championships

Germany (Lea Degenhardt, Claudia Sawicki, Saskia Malz, Jeannine Barth) and Russia (Maria Bulanova, Varvara Korobkova, Polina Kharlamova, Ksenia Kulikova) shared the bronze medal.

Top seeded Denmark wins Girls Doubles title at European Youth Championships

The No. 1 seed after the six-game preliminaries topped third-seed Russians Maria Bulanova and Varvara Korobkova in the gold medal match, 435-327. Semifinal losers Keira Reay and Hannah Frost of England, seeded second, and No. 4 seed Bauke Jespers and Hanne Nijs of Belgium got bronze.

England starts 26th European Youth Championships with victory in Boys Doubles

The No. 3 seed defeated fourth seeded Nicola Pongolini and Antonino Fiorentino in a high scoring title match, 494-464. No. 1 seed Gaetan Mouveroux and Mike Bartaire of France and No. 2 seed Jesper Svensson and Filip Wilhelmsson of Sweden shared the bronze medal.
