Jesper Svensson ends 25th European Youth Championships with victory in Boys Masters

Swede sweeps Germany's Buchmann in the title match, two-games-to-none

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Jesper Svensson of Sweden defeated Dominic Buchmann of Germany, two-games-to-none, to claim the title in Boys Masters in the final event of the 25th European Youth Championships in Aalborg, Denmark. Svensson, who was 14th in All Events to make it into the Masters match play round, averaged over 232 in eight games to sweep his four opponents on his way to the title match.  Jord van Weeren, Netherlands, and Nicola Pongolini, Italy, shared the bronze medals.

Kovalova shoots two big games to claim Girls Masters title at European Youth Championships

Ukrainian rolls 258 and 289 to beat Denmark's Rasmussen two-games-tio-none

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Daria Kovalova of Ukraine struck 19 times in the Girls Masters championship match en route to claim her second gold medal of the 25th European Youth Championships. Kovalova earned the No. 1 seed for the best-of-three games singles elimination match play finals by defending her All Events title at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark. Targeting her fourth career EYC title, Kovalova posted games of 258 and 289 to defeat Pernille W. Rasmussen of Denmark, two-games-to-none.

Norwegian Øyvin Kulseng climbs the ladder to claim gold in Boys Singles at EYC Denmark

Minenko takes silver; top seeded Talpa and Van Geel share bronze medal

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Øyvin Kulseng defeated the No. 1 and No. 2 seed in the Boys Singles Playoffs en route to claim the first gold medal for Norway at the 25th European Youth Championships in Aalborg, Denmark. In the title match, Kulseng topped Alexander Minenko, Russia, 222-171. In the semifinals, fourth seeded Kulseng flew past No. 1 seed Marek Talpa, Czech Republic, 228-168, while Minenko, seeded second, edged No. 3 Jeroen van Geel, Netherlands, by a whisker, 215-213.

England's Verity Crawley comes from behind to win Girls Singles title at 2012 EYC

Swede Jenny Wegner gets silver; top seeded Daria Kovalova, Ukraine, and Sanna Pasanen, Finland, share the bronze medal

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Verity Crawley of England defeated Jenny Wegner, Sweden, in title match, 238-222, to win the gold medal in Girls Singles at the 25th European Youth Championships. In the semifinal, Crawley eliminated No. 1 seed Daria Kovalova of Ukraine, 191-186, to bowl Wegner for the title. Wegner easily advanced to the title match with a 186-129 victory over No. 3 Sanna Pasanen, Finland. Wegener received the silver medal while Kovalova and Pasanen shared the bronze medal.

Sweden's Wegener, England's Crawley to join Finn Pasanen, Kovalova, in Singles finals; Crawley shoots first 300 game of the championships

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Squad 1 leader Daria Kovalova of Ukraine remained unchallenged in the second squad of the Girls Singles Preliminaries en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the playoffs and to defend her title in All Events at the European Youth Championships in Denmark. Kovalova, who is also the defending Singles champion, averaged 229.83 and totaled 1379 pins to beat out 2010 EYC Singles and All Events champion Jenny Wegner of Sweden for the top spot by 96 pins.

Ukrainian shoots 1379 to lead Girls Singles preliminaries after Squad 1/2 and to practically seal the victory in All Events

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg 2011 Girls Singles and All Events champion Daria Kovalova of Ukraine came closer to defend her titles in the 25th European Youth Championships as she posted a huge 1379 six-game series in the first squad of the Singles competition Saturday morning at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark. Kovalova, who held a 110-pin lead in All Events after 12 of 18 games practically sealed the victory in All Events with 3994 total and an average of 221.89.

Czech Republic's Marek Talpa earns No. 1 seed for the EYC Boys Singles Playoffs

Swede Filip Wilhelmsson emerges as Boys All Events champion; 24 players for Masters match play determined

Øyvin Kulseng, Norway, led Squad 2 with 1325 to take the fourth place in the combined standings and to earn silver in All Events. Filip Wilhelmsson, Sweden, captured the gold medal. Joining Talpa and Kulseng in the Singles playoffs are Alexander Minenko, Russia (1340) and Jeroen van Geel, Netherlands (1333).

Czech Marek Talpa sets the pace in Boys Singles Preliminaries at EYC Denmark

Score to beat in second squad to make the finals is 1287 (214.50 average)

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Marek Talpa of the Czech Republic took the lead in the Boys Singles competition after the first of two squads have completed their six-game preliminaries at the 25 European Youth Championships in Aalborg, Denmark. Talpa led the field of 49 players on Friday morning with 1387 pinfall total and an average of 231.17. Rounding out the top 4 were Alexander Minenko of Russia (2nd; 1340), Jeroen van Geel, Netherlands (3rd; 1333) and Christopher Lam of England with 1287 (214.50).

Finland comes from behind to win Girls Team title in EYC Denmark

Denmark gets silver, Sweden and England share the bronze medal

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Finland with Roosa Lundén, Sanna Pasanen, Eliisa Hiltunen and Heidi Poikonen successfully defended the title in the girls four-player Team event at the European Youth Championships. In a title match that went down to the very last frame, the Finns topped Stine N. Johansen, Pernille W. Rasmussen, Rikke N. Johansen and Pernille F. Nielsen of Denmark, 687-662, to win the second gold medal for Finland in the championships. Semifinal losers England and Sweden shared the bronze medal.

Dutch boys shoot big game to win Team title at European Youth Championships

Denmark settles for silver, Sweden and Greece share bronze

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Dutch boys Jord van Weeren, Joshua Schuurman, Jordi Putman and anchor Jeroen van Geel fired a huge game in the title match to fly past host country Denmark, 905-764, to claim the coveted Boys Team title at the European Youth Championships in Aalborg. It was the first gold medal for The Netherland in the championships. Denmark took the silver medal while Sweden and Greece shared the bronze medal. Competition continues on Friday with the Singles event.

Annie Thorell (554), Jenny Wegner (646), Fanny Lindahl (635) and Lisa Björklund (527) had games of 825, 770 and 767 to lead the field of eleven countries with 2362 pinfall total and an average of 196.83.

Sweden sets the pace as Boys Team event reaches halfway point at EYC

Wilhelmsson, Bergendorff, Rikkola lead in Boys All Events after 9/18 games

The Swedes rolled games of 866, 823 and the field-best 898 to set the pace after three of six games with 2587 total and an average of 215.58. Wilhelmsson leads the field of 101 boys from 29 ETBF member federations in All Events after 9 of 18 games with 1977 (219.67).

Finland captures the title in Boys Doubles at European Youth Championships

Top seeded Swedish duos eliminated in the semifinals

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg Jesse Kallio and Niko Kurppa of Finland defeated Norway's Øyvin Kulseng and Mathias Reinertsen by three pins, 391-388, to claim the gold medal in Boys Doubles at the European Youth Championships in Denmark. The fourth seeded Norwegians stunned No. 1 seed Jesper Svensson and Filip Wilhelmsson, Sweden, in the semifinal, 412-359. The Finns, seeded third, topped the other Swedish duo, second seeded Emil Nilsson and Pontus Andersson in the other semifinal, 430-400.

Hannah Frost, Bethany Hedley come from behind to win second consecutive gold medal

The third-seeded English girls topped No. 2 seed, Rikke N. Johansen and Pernille F. Nielsen of Denmark in the semifinal, 450-401, while the Swedes edged the other Danish duo, Stine N. Johansen and Pernille W. Rasmussen, 429-419.

The other Danish team will take on defending champions Bethany Hedley and Hannah Frost of England, who finished the preliminaries in third place.

Finland, Norway to bowl top seeded Swedish teams in semifinals on Tuesday afternoon

2012EYCLogo_small.jpg The 25th European Youth Championships got underway on Monday at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark, with the six-game preliminaries of the Boys Doubles competition. Swedes Jesper Svensson/Filip Wilhelmsson and Emil Nilsson/Pontus Andersson earned the No. 1 and No. 2 seed for the playoffs on Tuesday afternoon starting at 5.30 p.m. CET. The Swedes will be joined in the playoffs by No. 3 seed Jesse Kallio/Niko Kurppa of Finalnd and No. 4 seed Mathias Reinertsen/Øyvin Kulseng of Norway.
