Local bowler paces 55-player field from 8 countries with 1349 and 224.83 average

2013EBT11HansGlasl_small.jpgLocal bowler Hansi Glasl (pictured) averaged 224.83 and posted a 1349 series to lead the European Bowling Tour's Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger after the first weekend. Glasl rolled games of 199, 277, 184, 230, 212 and 247 in Squad 3 Sunday afternoon at Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany, to sit atop the 55-player leaderboard after five of 18 qualifying squads. Daniel Hellmich, Germany, took over second place with 1301. Day one leader Christian Birlinger, Germany, slipped to third with 1292.

Dominic Barrett defeats Stuart Williams in all-English affair to win his 9th EBT title in San Marino

Swedes Joachim Karlsson, Markus Jansson eliminated in Eliminator Round 1 and 2 to finish in third and fourth place

Williams, who was targeting to win his seventh EBT title, received 5.000 Euro and 120 point for second place.

Christian Birlinger sets the pace as Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets underway in Germany

German rolls 1292 series to lead a field of 37 players from six countries after day one qualifying

2014EBT11ChristianBirlinger_small.jpgChristian Birlinger of Germany paced the qualifying of the Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger after the first two squads Saturday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany. Birlinger rolled games of 244, 195, 215, 188, 223 and 227 in Squad 2 to lead a field of 37 players from Austria, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine with 1292 total and an average of 215.33. Qualifying continues Sunday, July 20, with Squads 3-5 scheduled for noon, 4 and 8 p.m. CEST.

Finnish-American finishes atop the 170-player field from 21 countries with 1484, leads 48 players into Sunday's finals; Rebecka Larsen is the lone woman in the finals, wins women's ranking; Paco Rodriguez (ESP) rolls the fourth 300 game but fails to advance; score to make the cut in 35th place is 1337 (222.83 average)

The native Finn, who lives in the United States, owns 13 PBA titles and is targeting to win his 10th European Bowling Tour title Sunday at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle. Koivuniemi survived a strong charge Stuart Williams (r.) of England, who averaged 245.83 in Squad 19 but fell nine pins short to settle for second place with 1475.

2014EBT10MikaKoivuniemi2_small.jpgMika Koivuniemi (pictured), a native Finn who resides in Hartland, Mich., USA, averaged 247.33 in Squad 15 on Friday afternoon to overtake the lead in the qualifying of the 10th San Marino Open by 17 pins. The two-time PBA Player of the Year (2003-04 and 2010-11), who owns 13 PBA titles and 9 European Bowling Tour titles, had games of 257, 256, 194, 225, 299 and 253 and leads the field of 161 players from 20 countries with 1484. If Koivuniemi survives the remaining four squads on Saturday, he will receive a 1.000 Euro bonus.

Jolanda Visser, Eric Kok are the Dutch representatives at 50th QubicaAMF World Cup

2014BWCNEDQJolandaVisserEricKok_small.jpgJolanda Visser (32) and Eric Kok (54) won the 2014 Dutch Bowling Tour which also serves as the qualifier in the Netherlands for the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The 50th edition of the World Cup will be contested November 1-9, 2014, at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. It will be Visser's first World Cup appearance, while Kok will participate for the 7th time in his career. The long-time national team member and former Dutch national coach participated in every decade since the 1970's.

Martin Paulsson takes over pole position in 10th San Marino Open

2014EBT10MartinPaulsson_small.jpgSwedish bowlers dominated Thursday's qualifying at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle as Martin Paulsson, Markus Jansson, Patrick Backe, Daniel Fransson and Martin Larsen cracked the top 10 in the 13th qualifying squad of the 10th San Marino Open. Paulsson (pictured) averaged 244.50 including games of 268, 276, 214, 203, 248 and 258 to overtake the pole position in the 145-player field from 19 countries with 1467. The score to make the cut in 35th place raised by 81 pins on Thursday to 1272 (212 average).

Dane leads Wednesday's qualifying squads 9-11 with 1381; Italian Federico Rossi holds on to the lead with 1449; Tim Mack (USA), Pasi Uotila (FIN) crack the top 8; score to make the cut in 35th place nears 1200-mark (1191, 198.50 average)

2014EBT10CarstenWarmingHansen_small.jpgDanish national team member Carsten Warming Hansen (pictured) averaged over 230 in Squad 9 en route to leap into second place in the qualifying of the 10th San Marino Open Wednesday afternoon at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle. Hansen, who had two top-4 finishes this season, is still looking to win his first European Bowling Tour. The Dane had a slow start with 160 but finished strong with game of 236, 268, 246, 247 and 224 for 1381 and an average of 230.17. Federico Rossi of Italy held on to the lead with 1449 and an average of 241.50.

Oliver Morig, Andrea Spadavecchia add their names to the leaderboard in San Marino

Italy's Federico Rossi continues to lead the 79-player field from 10 countries with 1449; score to make the cut in 35th place is now 1153 (192.17 average)

Morig (l.) posted the highest 1337 series in Squad 5 and Spadavecchia (r.) had 1325 in Squad 6 to leap into fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the overall qualifying standings.

Alessandro Silletti chalks up 1347 to move into third place in San Marino

Four Italian bowlers atop the leaderboard in San Marino Open after 6 of 21 squads; score to make the cut in 35th place is currently 1120 (186.67 average)

Silletti posted games of 224, 231, 180, 209, 237 and 266 for 1347 series and an average of 224.50. His compatriots Federico Rossi and Amedeo Spada remained in the lead with 1449 and 1375, respectively, while Maurizio Celli fell one spot to fourth place with 1312.

2014EBT10FedericoRossi2_small.jpgLong-time Italian national team member Federico Rossi (pictured) averaged 241.50 in the fourth qualifying squad of the 10th San Marino Open Sunday afternoon at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle en route to overtake the qualifying lead with 1449 total. Rossi, who won his lone European Bowling Tour title in the Catalonia Open in 2006, followed a 185 opening game with four games averaging 269.25 (263, 245, 300 and 269) including rolling the tournament's first 300 game. Rossi holds a 74-pin over Squad 3 leader Amedeo Spada, Italy, with 1375.

Sarit Mizrachi, Oron Cohen win 25th Israeli Bowling World Cup Qualifier

2014BWCISRQSaritMizrachiOronCohen_small.jpg Sarit Mizrachi and Oron Cohen (pictured l-r), both of bowling club Nesher, won the men's and women's division of the 25th Israeli National qualification tournament at Superbol bowling center in Rishon-Letzion and will represent their country in the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The 2014 BWC will be held November 1-9 at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. It will be the third World Cup for Mizrachi after 2000 and 2010 and the first for Cohen.

Julien Sermand takes early lead as San Marino Open gets underway

Frenchman rolls the lone 1300 series in the opening squad to set the pace in the 10th anniversary edition of the European Bowling Tour "gold" tournament

Second place Amedeo Spada of Italy was 58 pins behind with 1245. Alexander Fischer (r.) of Germany paced the second squad on Saturday afternoon with 1230, an average of 205, to finish the day in third place.

Markku Veijanen wins his first international title in Czech Open 2014

Finn averages over 250 in last eliminator round to earn the 2.500 Euro top prize; high-scoring 12th edition of the event features eight 300 games and one 299

Veijanen beat out Björn Einar Rudshagen of Norway for the top spot by 11 pins, 505-494. The 12th edition of the Czech Open drew 222 players from 20 countries, 182 men and 40 women, and offered total prize fund of 13.140 Euro.

Angie Brown, Olle Svensson capture the titles in 1st Senior Open - Dream-Bowl Palace 2014

It was the first win for Brown and Svensson on the 2014 International Seniors Bowling Tour, marking the series' fifth different winners in as many events. The fifth stop on the 2014 ISBT was staged at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace, the biggest bowling center in Europe.

Larsen, who averaged 261.13 for eight games in Final Rounds 3 & 4 to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals, received 6.000 Euro and 100 ranking points for winning the EBT "silver" tournament. The high-scoring event featured 10 300 games.

The PBA Hall of Famer, who owns who owns 25 PBA titles along with three European Bowling Tour titles, led the field of 166 players, 133 men and 33 women, from 26 countries with 1544 and an average of 257.33 including games 245, 278, 268, 258, 267 and 228. Dominic Barrett of England rolled one of four 300 games on Saturday en route to finish qualifying in second place with with 1537 (256.17).

Steven Gill (r.) of Scotland made a run at the lead in Squad 14 before settling into second place with a 1477 and the field-best 246.17 average.
