Marcano rolled a 1716 8-game series on Sunday and outscored her next-closest competitor, Latvian Diana Zavjalova, by 90 pins. The Venezuelan, a familiar face in the World Ranking Masters, totaled 4832 pins over 24 games, to win the qualifying with 201.33 average. She earned a $1,000 bonus for leading the women on dual lane condition and another $1,000 for winning the qualifying.

The top 8 qualifiers consist of four players from Asia, two each from Malaysia and the host country of Indonesia, two Americans, Karen and her sister Alica Marcano, and two play players from Europe, Zavjalova and Finn Krista Pöllänen.

She will take on 2005 WRM runner-up Wendy Chai, Malaysia, who avoided a clash with her team mate Zulkifli by finishing sixth, just one pin ahead of Zavjalova with 4636.

The Korean, who also led the Asian Bowling Federation Tour rankings in 2007, rolled the fifth-highest series on dual lane condition (1604) but had no chance to make the top 8 behind a 1386 series on short oil. Eun Jung finished 14th with 4510 and an average of 187.92.

The finalists will return for the quarterfinals later this afternoon. The semi-finals and the title match will be held on Monday. The champion will walk a way with the $10.000 (approx. $6,425) top prize.
