Youth is served as Marshall Kent claims September IBMA Bowler of the Month

Teen recognized second time in three months

2012TeamUSAMarshallKent_small.jpgMarshall Kent of Yakima, Washington, has been named the September 2012 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association. The 19-year-old Team USA member defeated the No. 10 seed, Oleksandr Kalika of Ukraine, in a two-game total pins match, 419-323, to win his first European Bowling Tour title in the  Russian Open in Moscow. This is Kent's third IBMA Kegel Bowler of the Month award, becoming the first USBC youth bowler to claim three honors.

International Senior Open releases Bulletin No. 3 for the Dec. 2-8 Las Vegas event

Inaugural event at five-star Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa features two different age divisions for both men and women - Men 50-60, Men 61 and older, Women 45-55 and Women 56 and older; over $12,000 in prizes will be awarded along with event medals

2012ISOLogo_small.jpg The organizers of the 2012 International Senior Open have released Bulletin No. 3, which contains new information on the tournament schedule, the lane conditioning pattern, shuttle schedule as well as new forms. The inaugural ISO will be held at the famous Red Rock Lanes, a 60-laner within Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa in Las Vegas, Nev. United States, from Dec. 2-8, 2012 and offers over $12,000 in prizes along with event medals. The ISO faetures two different age divisions for both men and women.

2009LaRazaEduardoMerchandet_small.jpgWith deep sorrow Jose Guandique, President of the Pan American Bowling Confederation, has informed all member federations and associations of PABCON as well as all member countries of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs and World Tenpin Bowling Association, that Eduardo Marchandet B (pictured)., President of the Venezuelan Bowling Federation (Federacion Venezolana de Bowling) passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in Venezuela at the age of 75.

2012ISOLogo_small.jpg David Garber and Joan Romeo, Tournament Managers of the 2012 International Senior Open, have made several minor revisions to the previously presented Bulletin No. 2. The inaugural ISO will be held at the famous Red Rock Lanes, a 60-laner within Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada from Dec. 2-8, 2012. The tournament is dedicated to senior bowlers from WTBA member federations and features Singles, Doubles, Team and Masters competition.

Shannon Pluhowsky wins WBA Kansas City Open

2012WBAKansasCityOpenShannonPluhowsky_small.jpg Shannon Pluhowsky (pictured left with Mike Adamski - Kansas City Tournaments) of Kettering, Ohio, is on a Summer "hot streak" that includes wins at The Proprietors Cup, gold medals at the Pan American Bowling Confederation Championships and now the Women's Bowling Alliance Kansas City Open at Olathe Lanes East. The Team USA member and four-time world champion defeated Olivia Sandham of Wichita, Kan. in the title match, 247-239.

Greg Young masters August IBMA Bowler of the Month

Greg Young, (pictured) of Viera, Florida, has been named the August 2012 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association.Young, 16, defeated Ashley Dunn, 15, Palmdale, Florida, 2-0, to win the Teen Masters Grand Championship and a $64,000 college scholarship package. Young, a junior at Viera High School, qualified third in the boys division into the Grand Championship, held for the second straight year in Vanderbilt Hall inside New York City's Grand Central Station.

Teen Masters World Series debuts November 9-11 in Las Vegas

WTBA certified event invites the world's top 18 & Under bowlers to Red Rock bowling center; entries are being accepted until Oct. 15; field is limited to the first 120 players

Now, the rest of the world's top 18 & Under bowlers also will have a chance to take on bowling's toughest test November 9-11 at the 2012 Teen Masters World Series in Las Vegas. Entries are now being accepted online until Oct. 15. The field is limited on a first-come basis to the first 120 players who enter.

Team USA's Pluhowsky, Canada's Lambert take Masters golds at PABCON Championships

United States (host), Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Canada, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica qualify for the 2013 WTBA Combined World Championships

Pluhowsky, the reigning World Champion in Masters, defeated teammate Liz Johnson, 238-226, to win the women's title, while Lambert fired a perfect game in defeating Puerto Rico's Francisco Colon, 300-175, at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in suburban Las Vegas.

Team USA sweeps Team and All Events gold medals at PABCON Championships

2012PCLogo2_small.jpg The Team USA men and women swept the gold medals in Team and All Events Friday at the 2012 PABCON Adult Championships. The U.S. women broke the record for six-game team total with 6,713 as they rolled to the gold medal by 256 pins over Mexico. The Team USA men shot 6,687 and finished 194 pins ahead of Mexico. Bill O'Neill and Liz Johnson captured the gold medals in All Events. The top 24 men and top 24 women in the All Events standings advanced to Saturday's Masters competition.

U.S. men and women lead team event after 3/6 games at PABCON Combined Championships

Team USA's Liz Johnson and Canada's George Lambert IV take over lead in All Events

2012PCLogo2_small.jpg Team USA took the lead in the men's and women's team event after the opening three games Thursday at the 2012 PABCON Adult Championships. The USA leads Mexico by just 11 pins in the women's team event with 3,349 pinfall on the Stockholm pattern, while Mexico totaled 3,338. Venezuela is third with 3,073. On the men's side, Team USA leads Puerto Rico by 45 pins. The U.S. totaled 3,317, while Puerto Rico had 3,272. Canada is third with 3,22.

Lonnie Waliczek wins New Mexico Open from top seed

2012NMOLonnieWaliczek_small.jpg Veteran pro bowler, Lonnie Waliczek of Wichita, Kansas, defeated former Wichita State collegian, Kristopher Prather, 206-193, to win the 9th New Mexico Open and the $8,530 top prize at Tenpins & More in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Finishing the title match first, Waliczek threw a great shot in the tenth but then left a 2-pin for 206, giving Prather a chance to win. He threw it as good as anyone possibly could, needing a double, 4-count to win, and rode the shot only to see a 7-pin stay upright.

Alicia Marcano, John Janawicz win Singles titles at PABCON Combined Championships

2012PCJohnJanawiczAliciaMarcano_small.jpgAlicia Marcano and Team USA's John Janawicz won the women's and men's Singles titles in the opening event of the 2012 Pan American Combined Championships Monday at Sunset Station's Strike Zone in Las vegas. Janawicz had a monumental comeback in the final game to win the men's gold medal with with 1,449 six-game total and an average of 241.50. Marcano closed strong with games of 245 and 236 to claim the women's title with 1,368 (228 average).

Matt McNiel wins 11thFrame.com Open

McNiel, who won three Eagles over a three-year span, defeated Shannon Buchan, 447-403, in the final two-game championship match. In the semifinal match, Buchan defeated John Brockland, of St. Charles, Missouri, 427-327. McNiel received the $4,000 top prize. Buchan earned $2,000 for second place and Brockland pocketed $1,500 for third place.

2012PCLogo2_small.jpg Though the United States has won more than 61 percent of the gold medals in the history of the Pan American Bowling Confederation Championships, members of Team USA won't take their competition lightly when the 2012 event begins next week. Athletes from 18 countries will descend upon Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in suburban Las Vegas for the 2012 PABCON Combined Championships. The event will serve as the qualifier for the 2013 WTBA Combined World Championships.

The championship is also a qualifier for the top eight countries plus the host country United States, who will compete in the 2013 Combined World Championships, which will be held in the same venue.

Marshall Kent golden as July BWAA Bowler of the Month

Kent won five medals at the 12th World Youth Bowling Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, June 22 - July 3, 2012. His two gold medals came in Team (with Team USA teammates Andrew Koff, Zack Hattori, and Chris Via), Singles, two silver medals in Doubles (with Team USA teammate Andrew Koff) and All-Events, and a bronze medal in the Masters competition.
