Swedes Eklund, Ã…rup, Andersin win Trios title in Men's European Championships

Third-seeded Mathias Ã…rup, Erik Andersinand Dennis Eklund (l-r), Sweden, defeated teams from England and Norway en route to win the gold medal in the Trios event at the 2009 Men's European Championships in Aalborg, Denmark.
The Swedes topped No. 2 seed England with Stuart Williams, Matt Chamberlain and Dominic Barrett in a high-scoring semifinal match, 715-693, and went on to defeat tournament leader Norway with Petter Hansen, Mads Sandbækken and Tore Torgersen in the championship match, 624-563.
The Norwegians earned the silver medal, while the Englishmen shared the bronze with the second Swedish trio, Martin Larsen, Robert Andersson and Martin Paulsson, who fell to Norway in the other semifinal, 629-551.
The championships continue on Thursday and Friday with the five-player Team event.
