Brunswick staffers to hold a series of seminars in conjunction with the Brunswick Euro Challenge 2009

BECLogo_small.jpg Brunswick staffers Rick Benoit, Sean Rash, Diandra Asbaty, Pat Mitchell and Rick Kruse will hold a series of seminars in conjunction with the Brunswick Euro Challenge 2009, the fourth stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's majors. The 90.000 Euro tournament will run from March 6-15 at Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France.
Bowlingdigital will cover the BEC live including our much-anticipated high definition videos.

Kegel to offer on-site coaching for elite teams around the world

Kegel Training Center coaches available for youth and coach development as well

2009KTCLogo.jpg The Kegel Training Center has announced the introduction of new products and services designed to support elite teams and the coaches of these teams. These products and services include targeted assistance to bowling federations around the world as well as college and high school teams in the United States. As part of this initiative, the world-class coaching staff of the Training Center, Del Warren, Randy Stoughton and Joe Slowinski, will be available to travel on-site, anywhere in the world, to train bowlers and coaches as well as develop customized programs.

USBC breaks ground on International Training and Research Center

Construction begins next week with a goal to be finished by Sept. 1

20090205ITRCGroundbreaking1_small.jpg Staff members at the new International Bowling Campus were on hand Thursday for the groundbreaking of the International Training and Research Center. United States Bowling Congress Chief Executive Officer Kevin Dornberger (r.), USBC Vice President-National Governing Body Neil Stremmel (l.) and Bowling Proprietors' Association of America Executive Director John Berglund briefly addressed the group before various people donned hard hats and used shovels to ceremoniously move dirt in the complex's south parking lot. Full-time construction on the 20-lane facility will begin next week with a goal to be finished by Sept. 1.

Kegel's Randy Stoughton joins elite Gold coach group

"USBC Coaching is proud to welcome Randy as our newest Gold Level Certified Coach. Randy has a great history of skills as a past PBA player, tour rep, ball driller, and elite coach. PBA names Kegel official Training Center

Deal includes Computer Aided Tracking System to be featured at PBA Majors

As part of this relationship, the Kegel Training Center will provide the Computer Aided Tracking System (C.A.T.S.) and support technician for all three remaining PBA major championships including this week's H&R Block Tournament of Champions, the United States Bowling Congress Masters and the 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open plus the upcoming GEICO Plastic Ball Championship and the Go RVing Match Play Championship.

Vadakin steps aside as Team USA Assistant Coach after 11 years

TeamUSACoachGordonVadakin_small.jpg Current Shocker Head Coach Gordon Vadakin is stepping aside as assistant coach on Team USA; a position he held for 11 years. Vadakin announced his decision January 7 and will not be part of the team in 2009. "The program is incredibly successful and it makes sense to bring new coaches into the program now so that they can continue to learn and move the program forward under Head Coach Jeri Edwards leadership", said Vadakin. Vadakin was an assistant coach on Team USA from 1990-1993 and from 2000-2008. As a member of Team USA in 1983 and 1989, Vadakin became close with then - Team USA head coach Fred Borden.

Nepomuceno receives WBW Mort Luby Jr. Distinguished Service Award

USBCSilverLevelCoachPaengNepomuceno_small.jpg Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno of the Philippines is the recipient of the 2009 World Bowling Writers Mort Luby Jr. Distinguished Service Award. Although Paeng's bowling career isn't over yet and he is still a force to be reckoned with in international tournaments worldwide, the USBC silver level coach is now dedicating most of his time to returning great services to the sport, including coaching conferences, exhibitions and as an ambassador for the United States Bowling Congress. Paeng is a 3-time WBW World Bowler of the Year (1998, '85 and '92) and was the first player elected to the WBW Hall of Fame in 1993.

Finnish professional bowling coaches launch "Bowling ABC" website

At "Bowling ABC" people will find three coaches helping to improve your game.Juha Maja, CEO of Sporternet Ltd., (pictured with coaches Jarkko Sipilä, right, and Piritta Kantola, left) had the idea for "coaching through the web" several years ago, when he was coaching the Finnish Youth National Teams.

Nepomuceno concludes busy coaching year with seminars in Manila, Brunei and Hong Kong

20081220PaengHongKongSilver_small.jpg If there were an election for the "Busiest Coach of the Year" title, Paeng Nepomuceno  (pictured left with the new silver level coaches from Hong Kong) would probably win by a landslide. The Philippine legend and USBC International Bowling Ambassador closed out the year 2008 with seminars in Manila, Philiippines, Brunei Darussalam, Brunei and Hong Kong, China. Paeng's training is part of the USBC effort to create an international coach training program and bolster the strength of federations within bowling's world governing body, the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ).

2006BrianVoss_small.jpg November saw the first ever visit to Malta of top US tenpin bowler and first class coach Brian Voss, who carried out an intensive week long coaching clinic at the Eden SuperBowl. The clinic was a huge and popular success among local bowlers, who were given the chance to be taught by one of the world's best in their chosen sporting discipline. Thanks to an initiative by the Malta Tenpin Bowling Association, bowlers of all abilities benefitted from free group sessions with Voss. The MTBA are already looking at the possibility of a return trip in 2009 for the PBA and USBC Hall of Famer.

13 coaches earn Bronze certification at Dublin conference

2008InninsDublin3_small.jpg Thanks to the hard work of USBC International coach and instructor Steve Ininns, England (front row, third from the left), 13 new names recently were added to the list of USBC Bronze coaches. The addition came as a result of the highly-successful Bronze conference Ininns conducted at the A-L-S-A-A Bowling Complex in Dublin, Ireland, Dec. 6-7. Like all USBC Coaching conferences, this event featured both classroom instruction and on-the-lanes, practical activities, providing participants with a well-rounded experience that enhanced all facets of their collective coaching skill sets.

Team USA's Hoffman, Ballard to join USBC's International Development team

2008TeamUSATTDelBallard_small.jpg 2007BWCBillHoffman_small.jpg In an initiative to help grow the sport of bowling both domestically and worldwide, the United States Bowling Congress has hired Team USA members Bill Hoffman (l.) and Del Ballard Jr. (r.) to join the International Development team. Hoffman, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, joined USBC as International Development team leader Dec. 5. Ballard, a former Professional Bowlers Association touring player from North Richland Hills, Texas, begins Dec. 29. By joining the USBC staff, both are leaving the USBC Board of Directors.

Avila holds USBC Level One and Bronze Level seminars in Mexico

2008AvilaClinicCancun_small.jpg Mexican Ernesto Avila Castañeda, a USBC Silver level certified coach, has held three Level One and two Bronze Level seminars in Mexico in a span of five months. "I have held the clinics in the South East part of Mexico and it was quite an effort because of the reduced number of bowling centers in this part of the country. We have just four bowling centers in four States," Avila explained. The picture shows Ernesto, left, with the attendees of the Cancun clinic in October.

Garber to oversee Training Center, other key USBC areas

USBCDavidGarber_small.jpg The United States Bowling Congress announced that David Garber has been promoted to oversee three areas for the national governing body, including the International Training Center. In his new role as High Performance Director for Team USA, the USBC Coaching program and the International Training Center, Garber will manage all activities and staff members for those interrelated areas that encompass high level training, competition and research aspects of the sport of bowling. Garber previously directed the Team USA program and was co-director of the USBC Coaching program.

The bowling globetrotter has gone all over Asia promoting the sport, educating bowlers and coaches alike and encouraging a lot of new aspiring bowlers to take tenpin bowling not only as a leisure activity, but as a sport in which one can excel in as he has done.
