Estonia's Kert Truus ends 23rd European Youth Championships with victory in Boys Masters

Kert Truus from Estonia saved his best the very last game of the 23rd European Youth Championships and rolled a 300 game to win the gold medal in Boys Masters with a 2-1 victory over Carsten W. Hansen, Denmark.
Truus and Hansen entered Sunday's best-of-three match play seeded No. 19 and No. 17, respectively, Truus opened with a 235-225 win in game one but Hansen rebounded with a 224-191 win in game two to force a deciding third game.
Truus fired the fourth 300 game of the championships to win the coveted title.
Hansen advanced to the title match after sweeping Marcus Henriksson, Sweden, 2-0, in the semifinal. Truss, meanwhile, eliminated Arturs Levikins, Latvia, in the other semifinal match, 2-1. L Levikins, who finished second in last year's EYC Masters, posted a 752 3-game championship record including a 299 game in his Round of 16 match against Mik Stampe, Denmark.
Hansen, who won the gold medal in Doubles with Stampe, earned the silver medal while Henriksson and Levikins shared the bronze medal.
The top 24 players in All Events (combined results in Doubles, Team and Singles) advanced to the Masters finals. The top 8 players earned one bye for the single-elimination finals in best-of-three games format.
