Semifinalists set for 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships


The four men and four women who will battle for collegiate individual titles on national television were determined Tuesday at the 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships. The semifinals will take place at Northrock Lanes on Saturday and will be taped for broadcast on CBS Sports Network in May. The women's show will air May 4 at 7 p.m. ET, while the men's show will air May 11 at 7 p.m. ET.

Collegiate Championships begin next week in Wichita


The nation's top college teams and individuals will battle for national championships when the XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships and the XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships kick off April 14 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas. The championships are the pinnacle events of the college bowling season, which began in September. Defending men's team champion Lindenwood and women's champion Robert Morris-Illinois return to defend their titles.

UMES comes from three down to win the 2015 MEAC Championship

Hawks win their third straight and eighth overall conference title

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), entered Sunday's Championship final for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title seemingly prepared to win. But it was the upstart and 19th-ranked Norfolk State Spartans who looked like the dominant team early, taking a 3-0 lead in a best of seven game match and were poised to upset the Hawks. But UMES rebounded to dash the hopes of the underdogs and win 4-3.

2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships field set

2014ITCXBowlingLogo2_small.jpg The 32 teams that will compete for collegiate national titles were decided Sunday as the field for the 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships was set. The field of 16 men's teams and 16 women's teams was determined at sectional qualifiers at four sites - Stratford, New Jersey; Fort Worth, Texas; Addison, Illinois; and Smyrna, Tennessee - with the top four teams in each division advancing. The ITC will be held April 16-18 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas.

24 men, 16 women advance to 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships

The ISC will take place April 14 and 18 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas, with the men's and women's finals broadcast on national television. Qualifying for the national finals was held in Stratford, New Jersey; Addison, Illinois; Smyrna, Tennessee; and Fort Worth, Texas.

Sectional field announced for 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships

2014ITCXBowlingLogo2_small.jpgThe nation's top college bowling teams can begin charting their course toward the 2015 national title as sectional-qualifying assignments were handed out Wednesday for the 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships. The four sectional qualifiers will be held March 14-15 at 30 Strikes in Stratford, New Jersey; Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas; Stardust Bowl of Addison in Addison, Illinois; and Smyrna Bowl in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Wichita State women's bowling team finishes regular season with a bang; win Hoosier Classic

Lady Shockers defeat Newman University by higher total pin fall after a tie in the deciding seventh game in the championship best four-out-of-seven match

2014WSUWichitaStateUniversityLogo_small.jpgThe Wichita State Lady Shocker's successfully defended the Hoosier Classic title held at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana this past weekend. The Lady Shockers faced Kansas natives Newman University in the championship best four-out-of-seven match, which went to the tenth frame of game seven. A failed spare conversion by Newman's anchor left the final game score tied at 162 to 162. Tournament rules gave tied matches to the higher total pinfall, in this case, the Lady Shockers (1,310 to 1,260).

UMES takes the Mid-Winter Invite Championship

Hawks top the Nation's No. 1 & No. 3 team in route to their third event win this season.


After a rough first half of the season, the Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) dropped in the national rankings to ninth place. After some solid work on the lanes, team bonding and a renewed focus on the roster, the team showed that they are a lot better than ninth. UMES topped No. 1 Nebraska and No. 3 and host Arkansas State Sunday to claim the championship at the 2015 Mid-Winter Invitational, an event featuring eight of the top nine teams in the country.

Sites determined for XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships through 2018


The XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will return to familiar sites in 2016 and 2018 and be held in a convention-center setting in 2017 as the host cities have been determined for the premier events of the collegiate bowling season. The 2016 events will take place at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas, while the 2017 tournaments will be contested at the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The 2018 events will be held at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska.

4th Bowling Combine for College Prospects continues to bring together bowlers, coaches

2014BowlingCombineLogo_small.jpg More than 100 youth bowlers from across the country, and even a little further away, were at the International Training and Research Center this week to take part in the Bowling Combine for College Prospects. The Bowling Combine, in its fourth year, was developed to bring together youth bowlers who want to compete at the collegiate level and college coaches looking for talented bowlers for their programs. This year's event started Tuesday and will conclude Saturday.

McKendree names Shannon O'Keefe women's bowling coach, Bryan O'Keefe director of bowling

Professional bowler Shannon O'Keefe has been named as the head coach of the women's bowling program, while her husband Bryan O'Keefe – an assistant coach for Team USA – will take the reins as the director of bowling for both the men's and women's squads for the Bearcats.

WSU coaching staff announces preselected players for 2014-2015 Collegiate Bowling season

Players come from Australia, Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Ukraine and the United States

2011WSULogo_small.jpgThe Wichita State University's Shocker Bowling coaching staff have chosen ten men and ten women to be placed directly on the selected team for the 2014-2015 season. Additional players will be added to the selected team upon completion of the tryout process in September. All of the 2014-2015 developmental team members for the Shockers will be selected after the annual three week tryout period, scheduled for late August through early September 2014.

UMES head coach Kayla Bandy inducted into University of Pikeville's Hall of Fame, twice

2014PikevilleHoFKaylaBandy_small.jpg University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women's Bowling head coach Kayla Bandy, received a prestigious honor earlier this month as she was inducted into University of Pikeville's Hall of Fame, twice. Bandy (pictured with University of Pikeville President Dr. James Hurley), who had one of the most distinguished collegiate bowling careers of anyone, was inducted individually and as part of the 2008 National Championship team. Bandy is a 2008 graduate of Pikeville with a B.S. in Psychology.

Shockers sign WSU's Gore Scholarship recipient Derrick Holmes

Next semester, one of the Shockers will be the recipient of Wichita State University's most prestigious scholarship, the $52,000 Harry Gore Scholarship. Derrick Holmes (right, with WSU President John Bardo), a senior at Wichita High School Southeast in Wichita, Kan., competed for the Gore Scholarship against 328 contestants.

USBC Gold coach Ken Yokobosky named as First Bowling Coach at Caldwell College

USBCGoldCoachKenYokobosky_small.jpgCaldwell College Executive Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino has announced the hiring of Ken Yokobosky (pictured) as head coach of the new bowling program. Yokobosky has an impressive background in bowling as a player, coach and instructor. Yokobosky, who holds a Gold coaching certification from the United States Bowling Congress, served as an assistant coach for Team USA from 2001 to 2010 working with both the men's and women's teams under legendary coach Fred Borden.

International bowlers dominate the men's and women's championships rounds

Zavjalova of Latvia, the 2013 USBC Queens champion, defeated Wichita State's Tannya Roumimper of Indonesia, 290-247, to claim the women's title, while Canadian Lavoie, the 2013 World Champion in Trios, outlasted Midland's Perry Crowell, 217-188, to take home the hardware on the men's side.

Finalists set for 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships

Four teams from a field of 32 collegiate programs made their way through the double-elimination match-play bracket to make the nationally televised finals. CBS Sports Network will air the women's final on May 20, while the men's final will air May 27.

Eight teams undefeated at 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships


Four men's and four women's teams remain undefeated at the 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships after two rounds of double-elimination match play Wednesday. Defending champion Robert Morris-Illinois, Urbana, San Jose State and Lindenwood left the Reno-Sparks Convention Center unscathed on the men's side, while Pikeville, Grand View, Robert Morris-Illinois and Sacred Heart went unbeaten on the women's side.

McKendree's Johnson, Wichita State's Roumimper named Collegiate MVPs

2014CollegiateMVPsAJJohnsonTannyaRoumimper_small.jpg McKendree junior AJ Johnson and Wichita State senior Tannya Roumimper (Indonesia) were named Most Valuable Players for the 2013-14 college bowling season Tuesday night by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association. Johnson and Roumimper were honored with the rest of the All-Americans at the Night of Champions banquet held Tuesday in conjunction with the 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will open Wednesday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
