Semifinalists determined for XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships

Wichita State's Heather Melvin will be joined in Friday's semifinals by teammate Tannya Roumimper, Nebraska's Elise Bolton and Webber International's Diana Zavjalova. The men's semifinal will feature Notre Dame-Ohio's Chris Via, Midland's Perry Crowell, Wichita State's Francois Lavoie (Canada) and Webber International's Gabriel Garcia-Rinelli.

Sam Houston State earns first NCAA title in any sport in Women's Bowling Championship

2014NCAASamHoustonStateBearkats_small.jpg The women's bowling team won the first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title in any sport for Sam Houston State Saturday night, when the Bearkats (photo upset last year's champion Nebraska in the best-of-seven games title match, 4-2, to win the 2014 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship. In the sixth game, Nebraska suffered three open frames in the first seven while Sam Houston rolled a clean game to seal the victory, 195-165.

Collegiate national titles up for grabs next week


College bowling's national champions will be crowned next week as the top individuals and teams in the country will descend upon Reno, Nev., for the XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships. The Reno-Sparks Convention Center, with 44 specially constructed lanes, will play host for the pinnacle events of the college bowling season.

NAIA Invitational: Robert Morris men, Webber women win titles

2014NAIALogo_small.jpgThe Robert Morris-Illinois men and Webber International women took the titles Sunday at the 2014 NAIA Invitational Team Championship. Robert Morris went undefeated in match play and capped off its run with a 3-1 win over Midland in the best-of-five championship match. Webber entered the championship match with one loss and beat previously unbeaten Robert Morris, 3-1 and 3-0, in consecutive matches to take the title.

Field set for 2014 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship

All four National Champions to date represented in the eight-team field

NCAALogo_small.jpgThe National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women's Bowling Committee has announced the eight-team field competing for the 2014 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship at Game of Wickliffe in Wickliffe, Ohio, April 10-12. The selection show aired Wednesday, March 26, live on and is now archived on the website for viewing. Defending champion Nebraska, Central Missouri and Maryland Eastern Shore are the only three teams to attend all 11 championships.

2014MEACChampionUMES_small.jpg It was a long and tiring day but in the end, the nation's third-ranked team from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (pictured) won their second-straight and seventh overall Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship over the Florida A&M University Rattlers, 4-3. FAMU defeated UMES 4-3 in the first match, forcing a second best-of-seven Baker game match in the double elimination format. ESPNU will have to condense the six-hour plus match down to less than two hours for broadcast on March 31.

32 teams advance to 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships

2014ISTXbowlingLogo2_small.jpg There are 32 teams still in the hunt for collegiate national titles as the field was determined Sunday for the 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships. The field of 16 men's teams and 16 women's teams was determined at sectional qualifiers at four sites with the top four teams in each division advancing. The ITC will be held April 16-18 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.

Field set for 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships


The field of 24 men and 16 women who will compete for individual national championships was determined Friday at four 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships sectional qualifiers. The ISC will take place April 14 and 18 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev., with the men's and women's finals broadcast on CBS Sports Network in May. Qualifying for the national finals was held in Allentown, Pa.; Addison, Ill.; Smyrna, Tenn.; and Fort Worth, Texas.

Vanderbilt shoots 300 Baker game live on BowlTV to win Music City Classic

Vanderbilt defeated Arkansas State, 4-1, to claim the title at Smyrna Bowling Center just outside Nashville, Tenn. The entire event was broadcast live on BowlTV. In roll-off for third and fourth place, the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-2.

Post-season field announced for College Bowling

2013ITCLogo_small.jpgThe post-season field for college bowling was announced Wednesday as sectional-qualifying assignments were handed out for the 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships. The four sectional qualifiers will be held March 15-16 in Allentown, Pa.; Fort Worth, Texas; Addison, Ill.; and Smyrna, Tenn. In addition, these four locations will host qualifying for the 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships on March 14.

Webber men, Wichita women win 2014 Hoosier Classic titles

In the men's final, Webber International (l.) battled to a seven-game win against Fresno State, taking the deciding game, 203-188. On the women's side, Wichita (r.) downed defending champion Robert Morris-Illinois, 4-0.

2014 Bowling Combine for College Prospects scheduled for July 22-26

The annual event was developed to bring together youth bowlers who want to compete at the collegiate level and college coaches looking for bowlers who might fit into their programs. Applications now are being accepted for the 2014 Bowling Combine, which will take place July 22-26 at the ITRC in Arlington, Texas.

Nebraska women win 2014 Prairie View A&M Invitational

2014PVAMUNebraska_small.jpg The University of Nebraska women (pictured) won their second consecutive Prairie View A&M Invitational on Sunday, defeating Vanderbilt, 4-2, in the championship match at the International Training and Research Center. The finale was a rematch of the 2013 NCAA championship match, which Nebraska also won. This time, the Huskers battled back from a 3-1 deficit, winning three consecutive games for the victory, including a 171-154 effort in the deciding game.

UMES wins third straight KU Invitational title

2014KutztownInvitationalUMES_small.jpgThe University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's bowling team (pictured) won their third consecutive Kutztown Invitational title and their fourth overall title in the six years Kuztown has been hosting the event, defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater, 4-2, Sunday at Heister Lanes in Reading, Pa. UMES, seeded fourth heading into the final bracket, defeated top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) and third-seeded Vanderbilt on the way to the title match.

FDU goes unbeaten, earns top seed at Kutztown Invitational

2014KutztownInvitationalLogo_small.jpg The women's bowling team of Fairleigh Dickinson University went undefeated in 12 matches and earned the top seed for bracket play at the 2014 Kutztown Invitational. The 2014 invitational is once again the nation's largest collegiate tournament. FDU finished with 11,281 to lead the field of 26 teams. Wisconsin-Whitewater was second with 10,979, while Vanderbilt was third at 10,837. The best-of-seven Baker fomat bracket play is being broadcast live on BowlTV starting Sunday at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Wichita, Kan., to host 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships


The 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will be held April 13-18 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan. The ITC features the top 16 men's and top 16 women's teams competing to hoist the Kerm Helmer Cup, which is awarded to the tournament champion. The ISC brings together the top 24 men and top 16 women to compete for an individual national title.

University of Maryland Eastern Shore claims their own Hawk Classic crown

Hawks go 3-0 on the final day, topping FDU twice to claim the Classic Championship.

2013HawkClassicMeganBuja_small.jpgThe University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) claimed their third ever Hawk Classic Championship Sunday, November 17, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) 4-0 in the championship match of the 2013 version of the event. Megan Buja (pictured; Rockford, Ill.) finished second overall in the team games and was named to the All-Tournament Team in her last Hawk Classic. Mariana Alvarado (Leon, Mexico) earned the tournament high game award with her 279.

2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Championships partner with H2M Management

Team and Singles events feature new pattern disclosure; separate patterns for men's and women's divisions for both championships; and best three-out-of-five game format team championships final


The 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will feature a key change designed to enhance the competition as the lane pattern used for the event will not be disclosed to players or coaches prior to play. This enhancement will be implemented in partnership with the bowling tournament service provider H2M Management. H2M Management will develop the competition pattern confidentially and provide lane maintenance for both championships as well as sectional qualifying events.

"Something old" was the re-emergence of Wichita State University (on the left) as men's champions. St. Ambrose University (on the right) brought the "something new," winning its first Classic - indeed, its first women's tournament outside its conference.

Kayla Bandy named new head coach of UMES Bowling

Past Collegiate Bowler of the Year is the program's fourth head coach

2013UMESHeadCoachKaylaBandy_small.jpg Kayla Bandy, a four-time All-America and two-time Collegiate Bowler of the Year was hired as the new head coach of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Bandy, who becomes the program's fourth head coach, replaces interim head coach Kristina Frahm, who stepped down to pursue a position in her chosen field of accounting in her home state of Illinois. Bandy comes to UMES from the University of Pikeville, where most recently she served as the assistant coach for the Bears.
