Norwegian standout and long-time national team member Tore Torgersen (pictured left with second-place Mads Sandbækken, left) cruised to victory in the Norwegian Open 2014 by Brunswick to capture his fourth career European Bowling Tour title and the 40.000 Norwegian Kronor top prize. Torgersen posted a record 844-series in Final Round 4, an average of 281.33 for three games, to take a 74-pin lead into the championships round and never looked back.

2014EBT17ToreTorgersen_small.jpgAfter almost missing the Round of 16, Tore Torgersen (pictured) of Norway made sure that he made the last cut to the championship round in the Norwegian Open 2014 by Brunswick. The former world and European champion averaged 281.33 for an 844 series including games of 267, 299 and 278 at Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo. He missed the sixth perfecto of the tournament due to a solid 9 on his fill ball in game two. Torgersen holds a 74-pin lead over compatriot Mads Sandbækken heading into the final three-game round.

Kjeldsen outaveraged the men to lead the squad with 712 scratch, an average of 237.33, and 736 total including handicap. Jensen was 32 pins behind with 704. The top 8 advance to a fourth round clash with the top 8 qualifiers.

The defending champion leads the top eight players in a third-round clash with qualifiers 9 to 16. Trailing Gruffman by five pins to take second place was Tore Torgersen (r.) of Norway, who used games of 258, 226 and 227 for 711 (237 average).

Rasmus Bering paces Round One as finals get underway at Norwegian Open 2014 by Brunswick

Dane Rasmus Bering (l.) the round with 695 total including games of 247, 265 and 187. Mikael Roos (r.) of Sweden was eight pins behind in second place with 683.

Rebecka Larsen (l.) of Sweden averaged 237 to lead the round with 735 total including handicap. Andrea E. Hansen (r.) of Norway was 26 pins behind with 709. The top 24 advanced to the second round.

Rebecka Larsen (SWE), Andrea E. Hansen (NOR) and Pernille W. Rasmussen (DEN) atop the qualifying cut line; top 27 remain unchanged with Mike Fagan (USA) leading the 222-player field with 1481; score to make the cut in 42nd place is 1347 (224.50 average)

Much like the early bird who catches the worm, the three leaders of the 9 a.m. Squad 20 on Saturday morning, all from Norway, caught berths into the semifinals and finals, respectively, of the Norwegian Open 2014 by Brunswick. Kenneth Haukås (l.) and Tore Torgersen (r.) rolled the 22nd and 23rd 1400-series in the tournament to leap into 14th and 23rd place with 1424 and 1402, resp. Arvid Espen leaped to 31st place with 1375.

Sandbækken rebounded from a slow start (173) with games of 230, 300, 241, 233 and 264 for 1441, an average of 240.17, to move into third place in the overall qualifying standings. One bad shot in the seventh frame of the last game cost the lefty a second 300 in an otherwise perfect game.

Erland Lund (pictured) started the EBT "satellite" tournament with a bang leading Squad 2 with 1463 including the first 300 game. Lund started with 231 before he achieved perfection in game two. He closed out with 182, 279, 258 and 213, an average of 243.83, to hold a 15-pin lead after four squads.
